It's a flower that struggles to bloom
It's the heart that longs to find happiness before it knows how to
It's the essence of natural beauty that needs no makeup to captivate you
It's a pleasure to meet once its walls fall down right in front of you
It travels the rocky coast without a single word to boast
It's a diamond in the rough a perfect nothing to most
But take a look a little bit closer and it becomes the rarest jewel ever found
On a scale from one to ten its value is best described as undefined
Pay attention because fake gems can fool while a gift in the shadows could easily be unnoticed

Post a CommentI think most of us have had some experience of 'fake gems' in our time!
Very nice and very true!
This reminds me of a Shakespeare sonnet that I read several years ago. I can't remember the name of it now, but it talked about love in much of the same terms. A person can seem very plain and ordinary to the rest of the world, but to the one who loves them, they are indeed, that "diamond in the rough" Well done.
I had to read that over a few times before I could really wrap my head around it.
I'm loving it. You have to look deeper to find the inherent beauty in anything.
Nicely done (o;
:)!
