Gifts to Bring as Thank You Gifts when Staying with Friends

Linda M. McCloud
If your friends are gracious enough to allow you to stay in their home while you vacation, you should never come empty handed. No, your suitcases, children or even your pet doesn't count. You should bring along a nice gift to show your appreciation for their thoughtfulness and for allowing you to share their home with them.

Here are some ideas on some unique thank you gifts to give:

A basket of wine

Yes, many guests may consider bringing a bottle of wine. However, your friends are going out of their way to help you. Don't stop with one bottle. Make it a few bottles.

Fix up a nice basket of breakfast fixings

When Sunday arrives you should offer to cook for your hostess. You should also come prepared with the major ingredients. Fix up a basket and add: a box of waffle mix, a couple bottles of syrup and a nice package of gourmet coffee.

Invite your hostess to the beach and give her a tote filled goody bag to take along

If there is a beach in the vicinity, surely you plan on enjoying it. Be sure to invite your hostess to go with you and give her a tote bag filled with beach goodies. Add to the bag: beach towels, sun tanning lotion, a good romantic book to read, sunglasses, etc.

Fix up a rainy night entertainment box

Someday it will rain. Make sure when it comes, your hostess is prepared for a night of fun. Add to the box: a couple of fun DVD's, a couple of board games, some popcorn, some boxed candy and a new deck of cards.

A basket filled with candles

Don't know your hostess favorite flavors of candles? Do not worry. Just pick out a variety of scents and include four to six candles and place them in a pretty basket. Now your hostess will prepared if the lights go out or if she just wants to enjoy a nice scent.

If you show your hostess how much you appreciate her allowing you to stay with her and if you are a gracious and good guest, you may be invited again. Plus, it never hurts to give a nice gift, too.

I love these ideas! Our family usually gathers for major feasts. We normally show up with a side dish or drinks to these events. I like the idea of candles. Very cool.
