First, let me mention that if your children like to make things, you should keep a craft box of supplies. In it you want to keep, colored pencils, markers, glue, tape, scissors, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, glitter, sequins, stickers, straws, etc. When your child is inspired or needs something to keep them occupied, you are ready and know where everything is. Now, back to gifts your child can make for other children.
Talk to your child about their friend and the things they like. If the child has a dog or cat, your child can take an old sweatshirt and cut off the sleeves. They can decorate the shirt any way they want. The dog can then wear his new, homemade shirt by placing his head through the head opening and each of his front paws through the armholes.
If your child's friend likes puzzles, your child can make one by pasting a favorite picture or a scene from a magazine onto a piece of cardboard. They can paste a collage of pictures on a bigger cardboard for a larger puzzle. Let your child then cut it into pieces and put it in an envelope or box. They can then give it to their friend to put back together again.
Let your child cut a piece of paper, wallpaper, gift wrap or shelf paper to 9" x 9". Starting in the corner, roll the paper into a cone shape and glue the edge. They can then decorate the cone with jewels, glitter or lace. If you have another small strip of the same paper, glue it on for a handle. Your child can now fill the cone with mints, popcorn, nuts or any small item your child's friend might enjoy. This makes a pretty, little gift for your child to give to another child.
You and your child can make some homemade clay to give to a friend. You can add a few cookie cutters with the dough for hours of fun. Your little boy or girl might prefer to make something out of the dough to give their friend. They can make a piece of jewelry or use the cookie cutter and decorate the shape. They can have fun making the gift and more fun giving it away to a friend..
A child can make a book for their friend. They might want to make an alphabet book using some favorite theme. They can cut out pictures from magazines and glue them onto each lettered page. If you take a lot of photos and have pictures of your child and their friend, you can use the photos.
Children are very loving and creative. Allowing them to make little gifts to share with their friends allows them to develop their creativeness and encourages them to share with their friends. This can be a special time for you and your child as you watch different interests develop in them. So have fun and make some gifts.
