Gifts that Your Daughter-in-Law Will Like

Choosing the perfect gift for your daughter-in-law may not be as easy as it seems, especially when you are not well acquainted with your son's wife. Try to focus on the one thing you both have in common and that is your son. With that in mind, try to feature some gifts that focus attention on your son and you will always receive a lot of thanks for your thoughtfulness. The following suggestions are meant to help guide you through the gift giving process.

Gifts that your daughter-in-law will like: Childhood pictures of your son

Any daughter-in-law will appreciate receiving pictures of her husband when he was younger. Look for a picture that is not well known and frame it. The more sentimental the better! Or burn a selection of photos onto a CD for your daughter-in-law. Some wives like to have a framed picture of themselves and their husband when they were both children sitting beside each other on the mantelpiece or elsewhere.

Gifts that your daughter-in-law will like: Scrapbook of your son's childhood

This is another touching gift that will pull at your daughter-in-law's heart strings. But do not expect your son to be thrilled at the prospect of having his childhood pictures and misadventures put on display for his wife's benefit! Some men do not see the sentimental side of scrapbooks that detail their childhood experiences. To them, it is just another cause of embarrassment as their mother proceeds to sit down with their wife and goes through in minute detail about how he scraped his knee and cried for an hour or about the time he was chased by a girl who was picking on him.

Gifts that your daughter-in-law will like: Foot spa

Has your daughter-in-law got a stressful job where she is on her feet all day long? Or is she a stay at home parent who is also constantly on the go? If you know for sure that she does not already have one, a foot spa is a gift that many women would appreciate from their mother-in-law. It is a practical solution for tired feet and is also quite soothing and relaxing for them.

Gifts that your daughter-in-law will like: Gift certificate

Have a quiet word in your son's ear and find out what his wife is interested in. Would she appreciate a gift certificate to a particular shop that she visits on a regular basis? A gift certificate can take a lot of the pressure out of trying to find the best gift because your daughter-in-law can use it on the items she wants from the shops she likes to go to.

Gifts that your daughter-in-law will like: Babysitting during their wedding anniversary break

If your son and daughter-in-law have children, you can offer to give them a break from their parental duties by offering to babysit their children while they go away for the weekend. So if their wedding anniversary is coming up, you can offer to babysit your grandchildren for the weekend or for longer so that they can go away knowing that their children are in good hands.

I love all of these ideas, especially the one with the pictures! I have actually asked my mother in law for some of my husband as a child, but she hasn't been able to find them.
