Gifts for Fathers Day

I Love You Daddy!

It seems unfair that Mothers Day is a bigger commercial hit than Fathers Day.While I have nothing against all the Mother Day bouquet ads and the gift suggestions that pop-up all over the internet two weeks before Mothers Day, I wonder why the hype does not seem to be the same when it comes to Fathers Day. Is it because it is assumed that father's are usually self-sufficient providers not needing any display of our affection or gifts? Methinks not! And it's not because I am a Daddy's girl. It is because both our mothers and fathers have committed their lives for us.While Mom did the cooking, kept the house and made us Chicken Soup when we were sick, Dad was working to make sure that mom had that house to keep and that food to feed all of us. If you had a conventional family like I did, Mom and the kids enjoyed a rather comfortable life because of Dad's determined efforts of working to make more momey. But it is not the money factor alone, but the thought that Dad was always there too. He was the protector when we needed to fight the school bully, the "important handyman" who fixed the lights and the heater during winters and the man who paid our school and College tuition fees.

Thus, this Fathers day, I guess we should give Dad his "proper" place and not be cheap about it. After all, he was never chap towards his chidren and he tried to give us his very best. Methinks that on that one day in a year dedicated to him, we should also try to give him our best. Of course, that doesn't only man a shower of gifts, though that isn't a bad idea - but a planned gourmet dinner or even an outdoor picnic for him would make him feel loved.

Gifts, of course, are always IN but that depends a lot on the your Dad's personal preference. For instance, if he is a golf freak, then a new golf set would "tell" him that HE is important to you. If he loves the outdoors, there are new electronic gadgets for the recreational outdoors available in almost every mall. For instance, there are now new electronic fishing equipments. You may also consider purchasing a personalized men's silver or gold bracelet for him if you can't afford expensive gadgets.

In any case, Dad knows that it isn't the gift, but the thought behind it which matters. Thus, a new sweater, preferably knitted by you, says a LOT. So does a single classy necktie.

You can never go wrong in giving Dad a gift this fathers day - - as long as you put your heart in it!

  • Mothers day is commercialized almost like Thanksgiving and Christmas
  • Fathers Day doesn't seem to enjoy the same hype as Mothers day.
  • A gift from the heart is always the right gift!
That Fathers are as sensitive as Mothers, though they may show their emotions less.
