Gifts for the Traveler Under $100

In another article, we looked at travel gift ideas under $50. This time, we increase the budget to $100.

Most of the following gift ideas for the traveler are not must have items. They are, however, nice ideas that would make the travel experience more pleasant, and perhaps the recipient will find these items indispensable.

Grounding/Non-Grounding Adapter

This all in one adapter, takes the place of many single ones. It comes with two and three prongs and it will work in the continents of "North America, Pacific/Australia, Europe and the UK." It does not function as a voltage converter; however, it has "Power rating at 250V - 2500W, 110V - 1100W." It costs $55.85 and it is great to "use with hair dryers, MP3 players, digital cameras, notebooks, mobile phones, GPSs, etc." It is a great and lightweight gift that will be appreciated by any traveler.

TourSafe™ Backpack/Sling

This is a backpack that converts to a sling bag by swapping the position of the straps. It has several inside pockets for easy organizing and two back zippered pockets (they are positioned against your back so there is no possibility of access from anyone). It sells for $89.95 and it comes in three different colors. All reviewers had good comments, although one or two of them added a couple of suggestions. This is a typical gift for the vacationing traveler more than the business traveler. It would also make a great backpack for everyday commuters.

Microsuede Pants and Microsuede Jacket (for women)

These pants are an exclusive of the Magellan's site. The description says it all, "Casual, comfortable and smartly sophisticated, our fully lined microsuede pants defy wrinkles and look great even after hours of flying or sightseeing. They have fly front, back elastic waist, and deep side pockets. Made of machine washable polyester. Available in Fawn in sizes 4-20." The cost is $69.00.
The Jacket sells for $89.00 and has "two exterior pockets, and five interior hidden security pockets." Buy either one of them or both, the recipient is sure to value them.

iPhone PowerCase

According to the website, the "PowerCase contains a rechargeable lithium battery that extends iPhone use (3½ hours talk time, 7 hours video playback or 36 hours audio playback). It can be charged from your computer in just four hours (USB cable included) or with an Apple USB power adapter (not included.) Flip-open design protects your phone without impairing functionality, and you can even take photos from inside the case. (5½ x 2¾ x 1")." It sells for $79.00. With the growing popularity of iPhones, this gift is perfect for the technologically advanced traveler.

Power Monkey

This is another great power supply for the iPhone. The advertisement claims it works with several brands of electronics; however, upon reading the reviews, several lamented a short life with Blackberry (connector breaks around the third use) and inability to connect to off brand electronics. It sells for $69.00 so if you want a less expensive charger for your iPhone, this item will work great. It "Includes mains travel charger for use in 150 countries (110V - 240V) - includes four adapter plugs in pouch" and "for iPod - provides 40 hours of play time."

The site offers more gift ideas for the traveler in your circle of family and friends. All you need is the patience necessary to read the item description, reviews (when available), and then decide which gift will be most appropriate.

Aside from the adapter (which would be mostly used by international travelers), all the other items are great gift ideas for any type of traveler and can be given beyond the holiday season.
