Gifts for the Traveler Under $50

While some travel for pleasure, others travel for business. If you have a traveler among family members and friends, this article will explore a few of the travel gift ideas good not only during this holiday season but all through the year.

The Magellan's on-line store has a variety of gifts for travelers to suite any budget. In this article we will explore gift ideas that are below $50.00. Some items fit perfectly the international travelers, others the national travelers, while others are perfect for any type of traveler.

Travel Hair Dryer and Travel Hair Dryer with Adapter Plugs

Although many upscale hotels offer hair dryers in the room, most hotels and other lodging facilities don't.

This hair dryer is dual voltage thus allowing the traveler to carry it around and use it in most parts of the world. It is lightweight and compact and can be purchased for $39.85. It does not come with plug adapters, which are needed when traveling to certain countries abroad. However, the store offers another option which includes four adapter plugs for a total of $48.85.

Which one to choose? If the gift recipient travels only to one foreign country, then it will be less expensive to purchase the hair dryer ($39.95) and the respective plug adapter for the specific country ($3.99). Or, you may opt to purchase the first one if the traveler already had a hair dryer but it stopped functioning. If, however, your traveler goes all over the globe and does not have a hair dryer, yet, then you may want to opt for the second choice.

Pack-It Folder 18 and Pack-It Folder 20

This is like a suitcase within your suitcase. It allows you to pack items and then place them in your regular suitcase. Their advertisement says, "With Pack-It® Folders, your clothes will arrive as crisp as when you packed them." Even if the hotel offers an iron and ironing board, few individuals would choose to iron when the option is given of wearing already wrinkle free garments. The first item is for shirts, blouses, and slacks. The second one is for jackets, suits, and sweaters. The prices are $27.45 and $29.85 respectively.

Wind 'N Go Shaver

For the man who is always traveling, this razor is an answer to his shaving needs. It does not require electricity but just the will to rotate a handle a few times to charge the razor. Magellan's describes the article as follows "This ingenious shaver has a convenient hand-crank (just 30 seconds of cranking provides a two-minute shave!), or it can be powered using the included 12-volt car or USB adapters. Floating shaver heads and sharp replaceable blades ensure a close, comfortable shave, and a pop-up trimmer allows precise grooming. Includes a cleaning brush and travel pouch. (5½ x 2 x 1½")." It costs $39.85.

Women's Sac-in-Tosh and Men's Sac-in-Tosh

This is a lightweight and completely waterproof coat. Has both zipper and buttons for closing, a hood, and pockets. When folded it fits into its own special 12x9x2" pouch. The cost of either one is $45.00. It is the perfect gift for any time of year travel. A little big bigger than a regular piece of computer paper, this coat takes up less space than a regular rain coat and fits better than your average one-size-fit-all rain ponchos. It really is a good gift idea for everyone, not just for travelers.

PackSeat™

If you have ever traveled by plane and had to wait for the check in desk to open or for all the people in front of you to get done, or, if you have ever been delayed and all the seats at the gate were already taken, then you know that this is the perfect gift for travelers.

This item is a fold and "pack in your carry-on" seat that the traveler can use while waiting in line for a long time or when there are no seats available.

One of the reviews says, " best PackSeatBy Adolfo P., CA in September, 2009
"This is my second PackSeat and it's a better model. It now fits in my computer bag. I not only use it as a back up seat on the many conference shows I attend in Asia, I also use it to elevate my legs on long flights on economy and seated at the exit. Flight attendants don't seem to mind it in place of my hand carry bags as a prop as I can put it easily away during turbulence without getting up and using the overhead bin. No more swollen feet after 15 -hour flights. Great stuff!"

Others reviewers found this idea great for travel; however, it does have a criticism: the seat is too small and, therefore, could be uncomfortable. It is up to you to decide if the positives of this gift outweigh the negatives.

This item sells for $29.85.

These are just a few gift ideas for the traveler(s) in your circle of family and friends. There are many more items available both of lesser and higher value. Although these items can most likely be purchased only on-line, there are many other ideas on Magellan's under $50.00 that can possibly be found at a local superstore of specialized store.
