Gilbert Arenas Trade Rumors Heat Up: What NBA Team Will He Be Traded To?

The 5 Teams that Make the Most Sense for Gilbert Arenas

The rumors are heating up on what team NBA star Gilbert Arenas will be traded to. Once upon a time, the idea of Arenas suiting up for anybody other than the Washington Wizards in the future seemed ridiculous. A few injuries and an incredibly stupid gun pulling incident later, Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards are poised for a break up. With John Wall now being the new leader of the franchise, it should only be a matter of time before Gilbert Arenas will be traded.

Where will Gilbert Arenas be Traded?

Forget whether these teams have the trade bait to pull of the deal. They are the ones that could benefit the most by adding the troublesome guard.

New York Knicks - In my mind, there isn't a team that Arenas would fit better with than the New York Knicks. The Knicks are showing that they are an Eastern Conference playoff team, but in the playoffs, teams will gear up against Amare Stoudemire. There needs to be another player in New York that is able to take the scoring load off of Stoudemire when he is having an off night. The Knicks run an up-tempo pass and finding enough shots for Gilbert should not be a problem.

Cleveland Cavaliers - Mo Williams and Gilbert Arenas would team up for a pretty undersized backcourt, but they wouldn't be easy to stop. That is, of course, assuming that Mo Williams wouldn't be part of a deal to bring in Agent Zero. How ironic would it be for Arenas to try to resurrect his career with the very team that was his arch nemesis just a couple seasons ago. The Cavs need a star, could Gilbert be the answer?

Orlando Magic - Acquiring Arenas would be a very risky move for any team with NBA Championship aspirations. However, the Magic are starting to look like they are going to need more scoring punch if they want to compete for the title. Vince Carter isn't getting it done, but then why would the Wizards want Vince Carter? Then again, I would think that Rashard Lewis is plenty available at the moment, too. The Wizards might get desperate to move Gilbert and if so, this could be where they have to turn.

Indiana Pacers - The Pacers aren't actually that far away from being a pretty decent team. Arenas could step up into the one spot where they need some help; backcourt scoring. I guess they could just rely on Mike Dunleavy to start to put up 20 a night. Then again, they might actually want to take the risk and try to actually make some noise in the postseason.

Detroit Pistons - The Pistons need to add some youth. Now Gilbert might not be the youngest chicken in the coop, but he is still only 28-years old. That is still four years younger than Richard Hamilton, and the Pistons need a point guard. The Pistons could be better off with a Stuckey and Arenas backcourt then they are with one that has the diminishing skills of Richard Hamilton on it. Of course, that is assuming the Wizards would be interested in Hamilton.
