Gilligan's Island Remake Hitting the Big Screen

Turning a classic sitcom into a movie is not something new, remember the Brady Bunch. Hollywood has even turned Cartoons into movies (Scooby Doo). Now another classic sitcom is in the works to come to the big screen.

According to Variety, Brad Copeland is finishing a script to enable a Gilligan's Island remake to hit the Big Screen.

Gilligan's Island aired on CBS from 1964 until 1967. The TV show was based on a group of seven castaways and their comic adventures as they attempted to survive and tried to escape from a previously uninhabited island where they were shipwrecked. The seven castaways were Gilligan (Bob Denver), the Skipper (Alan Hale), The Professor (Russell Johnson), The Millionaire Thurston Howell (Jim Backus),His wife Lovey (Natalie Schafer), Ginger The Movie star (Tina Louise)and Mary Ann ( Dawn Wells).

The movie version of the TV sitcom is reportedly going to take the contemporary approach on the characters and premise.

It has been reported that a director and a cast will not be picked until the script is finished.

But who exactly could play the characters and bring them into the modern day? There are many awesome actors and actresses who could play these parts and play them well? I say make it an all-star cast and I have just the right people in mind to play the parts.

Gilligan - Jim Carey or Adam Sandler either one would be able to play an awesome Gilligan. Gilligan was the goofball who constantly messed up their attempts at rescue. Jim Carey and Adam Sandler are hilariously funny and play awesome goofball characters.

The Professor - Brendan Fraser would make a remarkable professor. He has amazing talent and is able to be the funny person and also serious. He played a great professor in Journey to the Center of the Earth. So being able to play the professor in a Gilligan's Island remake would be right up his alley.

Mary Ann - Sandra Bullock I love Sandra Bullock. I think she is an amazing actress. I think she would be able to play the character of Mary Ann amazingly well. She is perfect for a girl next door role.

Ginger, the Movie Star - Jennifer Anniston I think would make a great Ginger. She is a great actress that can play many different types of characters and she has the "movie star" look down pat.

The Skipper - Matt LeBlanc he is a great actor and can be funny and serious. Not only that, have you seen him lately? He has turned into a hot silver fox. Who says Skipper has to be just an ordinary looking guy. Let an actor like LeBlanc show us a side to Skipper we might not have known existed. If you haven't seen LeBlanc lately take a look. Plus if Jennifer Anniston is Ginger the two already have great chemistry together (Friends) so the movie could build a romance between Ginger and the Skipper.

The Millionaire - George Clooney he can defiantly pull off a great millionaire character and he has the exact look for a millionaire. This is a remake, he can give Thurston Howell a more desirable side and with the right actress as his wife there can be some great chemistry going on.

Lovey, Millionaire's wife - Meryl Streep she is one of the best actress's ever and she can play any role. She and George Clooney would bring the millionaires into the present day with great class and chemistry.

Those are my picks for the cast of the Gilligan's Island Remake. Who are yours? What do you think about a Gilligan's Island Remake hitting the big screen?

This is not a good idea...

Gilligan's Island was a fluke the no one expected would work. The ensemble work of the cast was the thing that made it great. Capturing that lightning in a bottle a second time is extremely unlikely.

How about completely reinventing the basic concept without destroying the characters that we all know and love.

Hollywood marketing idiots need to stop riding on the coattails of these classic shows and destroying our childhood memories.
