Gilmore Girls Season Eight Rumors Are Starting to Heat Up

Rumors of a Gilmore Girls Movie Also Making Their Way Around Fan Sites of the Show

Will there be a Gilmore Girls Movie? Maybe a Gilmore Girls eighth season? If it were up to fans of the show, the WB and CW series never would have been taken off of television in the first place. But two years after the last episode of Gilmore Girls was aired, fan sites are starting to report many rumors about a new season for Gilmore Girls and a Gilmore Girls feature film. The only problem with these rumors, is that they are unfortunately only being linked to fan sites, and that though the rumors are being spread around, there may not be any real substance behind these ideas.

One of the big reasons that rumors still follow Gilmore Girls around the internet and the industry, is that the show ended without what die-hard fans would call a real conclusion. Gilmore Girls was on the WB and CW networks for seven seasons, covering 154 episodes of the show. In the final episode of season seven, called Bon Voyage, the main characters are still left in a bit of a lurch, and though it can be assumed where the main characters might end up in the end, nothing final takes place on screen to really bring closure to the show or to the millions of fans that tuned in every week to watch Gilmore Girls.

It is because of that ending that fans have been clamoring for some time to get them to put out an eighth season of the show, and hopefully get Gilmore Girls picked up by another network. The CW decided to move on without Gilmore Girls, and had felt that the show had runs its course on the network. The problem though, was that because some things were left up in the air as the final episode drew near, the cast and crew didn't get an honest chance to wrap up all of the storylines on the show. Maybe with one more episode everything could have been settled, but fans have wanted an entirely new season in order to enjoy the show for another year.

When it was on the air, Gilmore Girls was one of the best written shows on television. It didn't receive the recognition that some of the bigger networks get for their shows, but that didn't mean that it wasn't noticed by viewers. Many critics loved the show, and it has helped to put some of its stars on the map. The two main stars who play mother and daughter on the show (Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel) have found quick fame afterwords. Graham is on Broadway doing Guys and Dolls, and Bledel has found a lot of success in movies. Hopefully there could be a Gilmore Girls movie int he future, but the stars are not aligned to make that happen at this point.

I am very upset by the show ending the way it did. Simply because they did not even say it was the final episode until a week or two before and then left everything so open-ended. I would love to see a movie come out that just wrapped things up. I think plenty of people would support this and attend theathers and even buy it, I know I would! I do not see them making another season, that is just wishful thinking and the movie is also but in my mind the movie is a little more realistic. Maybe if enought people write companies someone will produce the movie. Maybe one of the old cast members may even want to venture with doing so to start a producing career. Stars Hollow through Kirks eyes LOL!!

We have been totally psyched waiting for the NEW season- this totally stinks! I feel totally betrayed by the advertising which was totally unclear about the season being a rerun instead of a new season. I am glad that the characters are able to move on and are experiencing success- this is not ab out them. I don't agree with the misrepresentation about the airing of past episodes as a new season. I'm just very disappointed as we have all been seeing the ads and waiting for the new episode tonight. What a total bust by ABC Family.

Oh, I saw that ABC family ad too- I almost screamed when I found out it just meant new to THEM. They're showing season 7, when they've just been syndicating seasons 1-6. I would be perfectly happy with just one more episode, they don't have to make a whole new season (though it would be great to have a movie.)

It is definitely true about the new season of Gilmore Girls. I just saw an advertisement for the new season on ABC Family. It is set to premiere on June 8th.

ABC Family shows reruns of Gilmore Girls. The preview was for the last season of the show. ABC Family will be airing it for the first time is all.

There has been previews of "all new episodes of Gilmore Girls" aired on ABC Family. What's wierd about it, is that the show time is 5:00PM. I hope it's true
