Ginger & Ginseng Tea

Greg Seltz
A healthy root recipe I prefer to make on a regular basis is my own Ginseng & Ginger Tea; it's simple, rejuvenating, and healthy. Both of these herbs are utilized for a multitude of medical purposes, and are known to relieve the consumer of physical and mental stress. For years, I had concocted a similar version to the ginger teas on the market, websites, etc.; however, while living abroad in South Korea I was introduced to Panax Ginseng. Ginger, known to remedy symptoms of cold and flu, has a revitalizing effect on the senses and can aid the recovery process. Ginseng was known to do that and more; so I combined the two to create this wonderful drink. For more Ginseng benefits, I have included a link below. Instead, let us commence in sharing this natural recipe and increase our chances of achieving optimal health!

What we will need is a ginger root, Panax Ginseng (root preferred over powder, etc.), 1 lemon, 1 lime, and 2 tablespoons of honey. You will want to begin by adding small portions, maybe an inch in length depending on the serving size, of the roots to a stovetop pot. Include the 2 tablespoons of honey for sweetness, and add water. Bring the water to a slight boil. I typically prefer to keep the pot covered, thus allowing the aroma to steam beneath the lid and provide more flavor. Allow the boil to proceed fro roughly 10 minutes before removing the pot from the stovetop. You will not want to drink it before it cools, obviously. Ice can cool the tea quickly if you are anxious to test your results, but this tea is better drunk hot.

As mentioned, this recipe is merely a quick pick me up for a tasty, rejuvenating tea. Feel free to add your own ingredients and herbs to provide for a more original taste. The great thing about tea is the simplicity and natural ingredients that provide for its delightful flavor. Not to mention the preparation is flexible enough for individuals to concoct their own recipe designed to suit their tastes. Just don't forget to share.
