Gingrich Aides Resign, is Rick Perry Running?

Lorraine Yapps Cohen
Hot out of Washington: Newt Gingrich's top aides have resigned! They left in a group. The litany of leavers is listed below. But let me seed a thought as to the reason they left: Perhaps Rick Perry is running.

Gingrich's leavers include strategists and staffers a la Rick Tyler, Rob Johnson, Dave Carney, Katon Dawson, Sam Dawson, Craig Schoenfeld, Walter Whetsell, and Scott Rials. The departures occurred at a meeting today with Gingrich reporting same through Facebook, of all places.

The news came as a shock, perhaps to those unknowing of some allegiances several leavers have to Perry. Remember I told you about Rick Perry, the super savvy big Texas business do-gooder we all hope would run?

Rob Johnson and Dave Carney served Perry as aides, having gone over to Gingrich as he cast his hat into the ring. But Gingrich had a sticky start out of the gate. His early campaign has not gone well.

So, what could have made those two strategists--among others--jump the Gingrich ship? Political scuttlebutt has it that Gingrich simply refused their advice. Against their better judgment, Gingrich was known to take some inopportune time off from the campaign, as well as make little effort toward grass roots connections. So now, where will Johnson and Carey's strategic visions be targeted?

Let this be my first I told you so. I already told you how much I liked the idea of Perry for president. I told you that CA Assemblyman Dan Logue's trip to Texas brought Rick Perry to California's attention. Inasmuch as economically failing California is too big to fail, California's mistreated business leads exodus to Texas. Political eyes sweep from California to Texas, with the Lone Star state gaining national attention for its economic success.

The nation's yearning for better centers squarely on Texas as we speak. Will Rick Perry run? Have his aides returned to Texas to create opportunity for the country? Will business again be the centerpiece of American progress? Will Perry step up to the challenge of prosperity beyond the borders of Texas?

Let me be the first to refresh your regard for Rick Perry. When he announces his run, let me say I told you so. When he fixes what ails this country, let me tell you I told you Rick Perry was the man to do it.

I was never a newt fan so glad to see this....he might have been a strong conservative back in the day but now he's a RINO trying to appeal to everyone...this nation doesn't need another one of those.

Interesting. If Perry is as smart as you say, he will wait until the rest of the GOP hopefuls have self-destructed before officially entering the race. It won't take long at the current rate!
