Girls Gone Wild Restaurant Chain Announced

A New Place to Eat Out

D. S. Ploshay
Hooters is getting company. Soon, the popular theme restaurant with gals in tight tees taking orders won't be alone in the sexy waitress market. A "Girls Gone Wild" restaurant chain is also being planned.

Yes. "Girls Gone Wild," as in the famed provocative, breast-baring videos of the same name.

Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis told Reuter's news service that the first two Girls Gone Wild restaurants will open this summer in two Mexico beach cities: Cabo San Lucas and Cancun, both popular Spring Break destinations. Later, Francis plans to focus on hot U.S. college towns.

Francis says that his restaurants won't be totally like his Mantra Films, Inc. videos, however. He says there will be no topless dancing, no stripping and no filming future videos onsite.

"This is going to be about fun, lifestyle, youth, sun. It's about everything 'Girls Gone Wild,"' Francis said in the Reuter's interview. "It's going to be sexy without being sexual."

Francis continued that these restaurants will obviously appeal to men, but they will also appeal to women who "want to feel sexy, exciting and edgy."

In addition to restaurants, Francis plans to launch a new Girls Gone Wild women's apparel line including casual wear, loungewear and swimwear. If Hooter's wildly popular logo is any indication of how well a theme restaurant does with merchandise sales, than Girls Gone Wild may fare quite well.

This line is an addition to current merchandise available. At the Girls Gone Wild website, there are already 'souvenirs' of the popular videos by way of hats and t-shirts. And, on the Girls Gone Wild parent company's website, stars like Brad Pitt, Ashton Kutcher, Paris Hilton, Collin Farrel and Justin Timerlake were found donning the apparel.

Girls Gone Wild is produced by Mantra Films, Inc. The company's website touts that there are about 80 new Girls Gone Wild DVDs produced each year, the footage from over 700 wild parties thrown by Mantra. Titles include: Girls Gone Wild: Freshman Orientation, Girls Gone Wild: Girls Who Like Girls and Girls Gone Wild: Craziest Frat Parties.

Mantra was formed in 1997 and is headquartered in Los Angeles, California.

Sex sells
According to the corporate website, Mantra grew from a few-man production team to a 350-person team with a comprehensive production facility, a 250-seat state-of-the-art call center, a direct sales and retail division, tour buses and live event staff, full production crews, apparel showroom, a full marketing department, an in-house media agency, a comprehensive Internet business infrastructure and a state of the art fulfillment center.

The apparel showroom center is in the Gerry Building in the LA Fashion District.
