As I arrived at Lisa's beach house, someone handed me a glass of wine, and from that moment, it seemed as if we had never been apart. What do girls do on a girl's vacation? We gab. It is amazing how sixteen women can talk at the same time and not miss a word of any of the conversations. Food and drink were plentiful and last month's weight-loss returned the first day.
We went to the beach, but there was no flocking of boys. We laughed. There were teens playing volleyball. Someone said, "If she were my daughter, she would put on some clothes." We shared the biggest laugh as we realized we were sounding like our mothers. Go to sleep, wake up, and overnight you have become your mother.
The sixteen of us have ten divorces, two more than once and one more than thrice. Girl's talk about their families. Family is her kids, his kids and their kids. We shared loads of family pictures. The old photos were hilarious. Wow, what changes? We had a blast.
The girls flirted with the men and some seriously. What happens at "Girl Vacations" stays at "Girl's Vacations". This was acceptable for singles, but a couple married ladies participated. Compliments, conversation and dance are nice, but when necking started, it was time to call it a night. When sober, they will not believe it happened. That is the good thing about being in a posse, you friends are constantly covering your back.
As far as forty and plus "girl's vacations", we talked a lot, ate a lot, drank too much, enjoyed each other's lives, tried to cheer the depressed, helped others find the light at the end of the tunnel, helped financially if possible, and loved each other dearly. The "R" ratings were practically non-existent, but we did play. We shared memories as if they happened yesterday. The memories were as great as experiencing them again.
