Giuliani's Gaffe Could Qualify for Political Darwin Award

In an interview by George Stephanopoulos on ABCs "Good Morning America," former NYC mayor, Rudolph W. Giuliani said ""we had no domestic attacks under Bush; we've had one under Obama."

The gaffe was better than anything we have ever heard from Dan Quayle or Joe Biden.

Giuliani almost had to summon the Batmobile on September 11, as he was whisked away from falling debris and lethal dust clouds.

This is the same guy who told reporters two years ago "I was at Ground Zero as often, if not more, than most workers.... I was there working with them. I was exposed to exactly the same things they were exposed to. So in that sense, I'm one of them."

How could he forget?

Later, on CNN, Giuliani tried to cover up his senior moment by saying that he omitted "since September 11th," in his statement to Stephanopoulos.

The folks over at the Darwin Awards are considering opening a new award category for politicians, "who do a service to taxpayers by removing themselves from the political arena in a sublimely idiotic fashion."

Contenders might include an honorary award to Dan Quayle, as well as current offenders such as Vice President Joe Biden, Janet Napolitano, Mark Sanford, and Rudolph Giuliani; plus those accused of criminal activity: Rod Blagojevich, Mayor Peter J. Cammarano III of Hoboken, NJ; Mayor Dennis Elwell of Secaucus, NJ; two Assemblymen L. Harvey Smith and Daniel M. Van Pelt of NJ; and building inspector Maher Khalil.

There are those, who are also pushing to nominate Sarah Palin and Barack Obama.

Currently, darwinawards.com issues awards to those people "do a service to Humanity by accidentally removing themselves from the gene pool."

I still believe that Quayle holds the honorary degree:
