Give..

It's All Give and Take in the End

David Carr
So I've packed my bags
And I'll leave you alone
I'll delete your name a number
From my cellular phone

I'll do my best to forget about
The special times we had

I had promised you
That when I found the words
I'd say the sweetest things
That you had ever heard

But now my trying is over
And I assume you're glad

My head says one thing, but my heart won't listen
Caught between emotions, in a sympathetic prison
Throw away the feelings and the love letters written
That's when I break down and just give up...

I heard that you were leaving
You had to go
Don't tell me when or where
I don't need to know

Out of sight, out of mind...
Still think of time well spent

I'll keep those special moments
In my heart
Like an over used hour glass
From finish to start

Time with you 'been such a whirlwind
You sort of came and went

My head says one thing but my heart won't listen
Caught between emotions in a sympathetic prison
Throw away the feelings and the love letters written
That's when I break down and just give up...

I'll play back, the times we kissed (I give up)
Days in the rain...so much bliss (I give in)
We talked about being lovers and friends (I give up)
What a shame it all has to end (I give in)

My head says one thing but my heart won't listen
Caught between emotions in a sympathetic prison
Throw away the feelings and all the love letters written
That's when I break down and just give up...

I give in
I give in
Again and again
I give in...

I thought this was very lovely. I've gone through so much lately and this poem fits perfectly with what is transpiring in my life. Thank you so much for sharing.

Very sad but terribly romantic. Loving and loosing hurts. Nice work.
