Give an Art Card, Editions and Originals as a Stocking Stuffer

These ACEO or artist miniatures are aproxiamately 2.5" by 3.5" in size, the same size as a sports trading card. They were originally created to be traded, many people now sell them. It is believed that M. Vänçi Stirnemann, began trading these ACEO cards in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1997.

ACEO are usually made on a hard or bristol card, I personally use a 140 lb watercolor paper. I like using watercolour paper because it can withstand the watercolor paints, which I use as a base for all of my colored pencil drawings. The 140 lb watercolor paper is also better than bristol board for tearing off the point of a colored pencil, leaving a richer, deeper color. I also use a thinner to mix the pencil colouring together. Watercolor paper can also handle the addition of these two, the paint and the thinner, better than other cards or papers.

These ACEO are small enough that many people can afford to buy art from name artists. While a larger painting or drawing may be more desirable for the wall, they are also more costly, and demand a premium price. With ACEOs, people can afford to buy more name or even aspiring artists art.

I also use an ACEO to see how a larger piece may look, or even if it will work at all, as I see it my minds eye. I can now sell these small art pieces on the internet.

These artist miniatures come in a variety of mediums, ie, watercolor, oil, photography, collage, etc. The variety of mediums is quite impressive, considering that it is all done on a 2.5" by 3.5" Just make sure that you are purchasing a print or an original! Many people sell prints of their original pieces. Read the whole ad, before you buy. You do not want to be disappointed when you recieve the piece of art or print.

There is also binders that you can purchase to store your art miniatures. There are also small displays stands that you can show your collection of ACEO on your desk or mantle piece.

You can purchase these Art Cards at a variety of sites, ie, Ebay, Art-Cards.org, etc. Just go to Google and type in ACEO and you will find a great choice of sites to choose from.

So, start collecting the future great artists now with ACEO and start stuffing your Christmas Stockings with them.
