Give the Best Holiday Gift

Mel King
No matter which of the many holidays you might celebrate at this time of year, each holiday seems to have gift giving as one of its traditions. Giving and the gifts that we give bring joy no matter how many or how many times we give them. They might be small gifts over many days or many gifts on one day or even just one HUGE gift given from the heart. Speaking of giving one huge gift, I have a suggestion for you that you're going to like.

Have you ever considered this year to give the gift of real estate? What? I hear you saying, "Are you kidding? You must be out of your mind." No I am not kidding, and yes I am out of my mind (another article for another time!) Nevertheless, I think it is a great idea and here is why I suggest this.

Consider that there are lots available in certain cities for as low as $3,200. Now you might say that you have never spent that much on a holiday gift in your life. But, you need to look at this in a different way. For example, let's pretend that you have a favorite nephew to whom you want to give the perfect gift. You realize that if you buy your nephew a gift, you will also need to buy his wife a gift. You hardly know her and you are not even sure if you like her. So...buy them a lot! Buy them a house, if he is really your favorite. You can solve the extra gift problem in one fell swoop.

Still think I am crazy? Did you ever buy someone a share of stock? This year, real estate is a better deal. Buy all of your family up north a vacation condo in beautiful Cape Coral Florida. They will thank you for many years to come. Just think about this for a moment. You can have an endless stream of different family members visiting...wait a minute, that may not be a great idea. But, you get the point. It is not out of the realm of possibilities to consider buying real estate as a holiday gift. Prices are historically low. Do some creative giving. Buy an investment house for your own portfolio and give your family members the weeks/months you couldn't rent it anyway. See where this can lead. All of a sudden, you are the king of the world. Your family loves you because they get to visit Florida. Your own pocketbook loves you because you have made a wise and fruitful investment. The IRS loves you because they can scrutinize your deduct....wait again maybe that is not the best example.

Give the gift of real estate for the holidays. If nothing else your local REALTOR® will greatly appreciate you and after all who does more for a community than REALTORS®. All I have left to add is, "Happy Holidays!"
