However, it's not going to be an instant thing - you need to make sure that you acknowledge what is needed, and to make the changes accordingly. So, if heart attack symptoms are related to poor diet, for instance, you need to actively eat properly, as well as exercise. And quitting smoking is an immediate necessity - this is one of the biggest causes of heart attacks, due to smoke and nicotine clogging up the arteries that keep the heart healthy.
As well as stopping smoking, there are a host of other ways to a healthy heart, and this can combat not only the causes of a heart attack, but reduce the risk of a heart attack altogether.
Diet
One of the biggest changes you can make, yet also one of the easiest, is what you eat. Since many of the symptoms of a heart attack are caused by high cholesterol and fatty tissue found in the likes of greasy junk food, cutting down on this type of food will make an instant impact on your health.
Instead of eating burgers or pizza, or deep-fried food, change over to grilled fish. Salmon, sardines and herring are all excellent sources of the important Omega-3 acid. This is the specific acid that reduces cholesterol, and this will reduce the risk of a heart attack immensely.
Fiber is another product that shouldn't be ignored. Oats and oatmeal is similar to fish, in that it will control your cholesterol, therefore preventing heart attack causes from beginning in the first place. Soy is another ingredient that you should look at for a healthy heart. And try to reduce your alcohol intake, as this has a direct effect on the quality of your blood vessels.
Exercise
As good as healthy eating is in preventing a heart attack you shouldn't just leave it at that. Taking regular exercise will ensure that your heart is kept healthy and active, and ensure there is less chance of your blood vessels and arteries becoming clogged, a key cause of heart attacks. If this sounds too much for you, the good news is that any form of exercise will make a significant difference.
Taking a walk to work instead of the bus or train (if feasible); walking up stairs instead of taking the elevator all the time; these are just 2 simple ways that you can change your daily routine. Do this for the whole week, and you'll soon feel healthier and fitter, and your heart will too.
With the right combination of diet and exercise, not to forget stopping smoking, the risk of you having a heart attack will be reduced. The healthier you are, the easier it will be to spot that something's not right, and this could mean the difference between spotting the signs of a heart attack, and missing it.
