Since we found out I was pregnant right at the beginning of December in 2004, I came up with the perfect way to "hint" to all of our friends and family that we were adding to the family. I got all of our Christmas cards ready to send out. Then, I printed up some self stick labels that said "Happy Holidays from Steven, Tracy, Jenna and the Peanut" and stuck them on each envelope as the seal. I then mailed out all of the cards and waited to see what happened.
I started getting calls a week later. Most people figured out that the "peanut" referred to must be a baby, but some of our friends wanted to know if we had a new dog! My dad called up my mother and asked her if I went and got "knocked up". Very amusing. Basically, we were able to let everyone know about the pregnancy and still save money on long distance calls. Most of them spent their own dime calling us!
While this was an amusing way to spread the word, we called and spoke with both my mother and my mother in law. My husband also called his best friend. He asked him if he was ready to be an uncle again. His friend, Paul, actually dropped the phone! My mother and mother in law were both very excited and agreed to keep the secret until the "hint" had been received by everyone. I think it was a unique and funny way to spread the word, and we did something similar with our third child as well.

LOL Robin! No, the third child is now 21 months old. But that would be a great way to announce the next one (when and if!).
Oh, was this the third child hint?
Sounds cute and fun.
