Give Yourself a Healthy Boost with Emergen-C Super Orange Fizzy Drink Mix

A Dietary Supplement

Susan Slade
Vitamin C is an important part of my life. Living in England, for the first 40 years of my life, I always took a Vitamin C tablet every day to ward off colds. Upon coming to Florida, I still felt that I needed to boost my immune system. I continued to buy the Vitamin C pills, and doubled up on them, when I knew that I was going on a long flight.

I purchased, on two separate occasions, a box of Emergen-C 1,000 mg Vitamin C, for $3.49 for 10 servings, and received the full amount back, in the form of a register coupon, for my next shopping experience. This dietary supplement comes in the form of sachets, and is added to water. The flavor I received is Super Orange, and it turns into a fizzy drink. It contains 24 nutrients with antioxidants, electrolytes, and 7 B Vitamins.

I gave one box to my husband, and kept the other one for myself. It states that you can drink this up to twice a day. All you have to do is, get a glass, pour the contents into the bottom, and fill with four to six ounces of water.

Upon cutting the top off of the sachet, there is 0.3 ounces of a pale powder. It has a strong orange smell to it. Once the water is added to it, it froths up. Once it has settled, you can see the sparkling in it.

The taste is of a slightly 'tart' orange. Just like one that you have picked a little too early from the tree. It has a slight aftertaste to it, which isn't unpleasant. I have tried it with 6 ounces of water, and it did taste a little diluted. I prefer to only use 4 ounces for myself.

Len has had a cough recently, so he has been having the Emergen-C Vitamin C drink twice a day. I asked him if he liked it, and he told me that it is drinkable. As he is diabetic I checked and it only has 25 calories, and 5 grams of sugar. This is fine for him.

I wanted to see what else I was getting apart from the Vitamin C. So here is what is listed on the back of the box:

"Vitamin C
Thiamin
Riboflavin
Niacin
Vitamin B6
Folic Acid
Vitamin B12
Pantothenic Acid
Calcium
Phosphorus
Magnesium
Zinc
Manganese
Chromium
Sodium
Potassium
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Quercetin

There are other ingredients in the sachets but I am not listing them. You can find them on the manufacturer's website.

I do eat oranges, and lots of fruit, in my diet. I drink decaffeinated coffee, and water. As I don't like tea, or soda, sometimes I just don't know what to drink for a change. This could be a winner for me, as the more I drink it, the more I enjoy it.

I really can't say that it has 'rejuvenated' me, which it states on the box. I feel that the Emergen-C Super Orange does give me a healthy boost in the day. I do have a lot of energy, and am not sure if it does give me extra energy. However, I do a lot of walking, and the other day I walked 37,783 steps along the water's edge, at Treasure Island beach. I feel that it does help put back some of the mineral and electrolytes, after I use up so much energy.

It also comes in tangerine, lemon lime, acai berry, raspberry, cranberry pomegranate, tropical, and lite, which is only 5 calories.

I really don't think that 35 cents is a bad price for a drink, which is healthy too. This is now a product that our family will continue to purchase.
