Glade Wisp Flameless Candles Lack Power, Fragrance to Affect Large Rooms

Heather Shockney
Glade Wisp Flameless Candles have been advertised quite frequently on TV lately. They are advertised as being a candle that does not have a flame. They also are supposed to put out a fragrance. The glade Wisp Flameless candle runs by two double AA batteries. The fragrance oil comes in several different types. This was all I needed to hear to convince me to get one. This is my product review of the Glade Wisp Flameless Candle.

The Glade Wisp Flameless Candle costs about $9.99. You can usually find a coupon in the newspaper to lower the cost. The starter kit comes with the flameless candle, a glass candle holder, a fragrance oil refill, and two double AA batteries. They come in several scents including Clean Linen, French Vanilla, Hawaiian Breeze, Rainshower, Orchid Oasis, and Apple Cinnamon. I chose Clean Linen and French Vanilla.

Putting the Glade Wisp Flameless Candle together is simple to do. You open the battery compartment and pull out the red tag to activate the batteries. Take the lid off of the fragrance bottle and align it with the slots on the flameless candle. Next you turn the bottle until it locks into place. Once that is done you place the cover over the flameless candle by aligning it with the clips on the candle itself. You can control how big of a spray the Glade Wisp Flameless candle omits each time with the lever on the bottom of the candle. Next place the flameless candle inside the glass candle holder.

That's it. To turn the candle flame on you push down on the top of the candle. The Glade Wisp Flameless Candle then gives off a glow that does resemble a burning candle. I was pretty impressed with the way they candle looked. If you did not know it was a flames candle you would swear it had a burning flame. I was not happy with the fragrance the candle gave off though. I could not smell it unless I was right over top the candle. I had hoped for something that would leave a light fragrance in the entire room instead of a small area right over the candle.

I thought maybe it was just the fragrance I had chosen so I tried another. It was still the same thing. The fragrance could only be found right over the candle. I also did not like that there is no way of turning off the fragrance sprayer. I had to take out the batteries to stop it from spurting. This would be a hassle to do every time. The Glade Wisp Flameless Candle is supposed to last for thirty days on one set of batteries. The fragrance can last up to forty-five days depending on which setting you have it on for the amount released with each spurt.

Overall I like the appearance of the candle and the look of the flameless flame. If you are looking for something to give off a fragrance to an entire room you will want to go with something else. Maybe if you had several Glade Wisp Flameless Candles in one room it would make a bigger aroma.

Though I live in an apartment, I do have a decent size living room and the Wisp Flameless Candle does a very good job at releasing enough fragrance to fill the room. I keep it set on the medium setting. Whenever I come home and walk in the door, the fragrance is quite noticeable. It's only when I am around it for an extended period of time that I find it to be less noticeable. But I have that experience with anything I use. I believe that is simply due to the fact that my senses get used to the scent. Anyways, I am sorry that your Wisp Flameless Candle experience was less than perfect, but I honestly feel this product will do a nice job for anyone looking to add some fragrance to a small or medium sized room.

I found the candle to be very fragrant in my house. I do have a small house, but without it being "on" there was still an obvious fragrance in my kitchen and dining area with the candle in the living room, even with a partial wall separating the rooms. My house isn't THAT small.

Great review! You might want to try the Minus Wicks product from For Every Body (www.foreverybody.com). It doesn't require batteries or refills and can be used with or without a candle warmer. It is water based and completely safe!
