Glamorous Vampire Makeup Look

Beautifully Undead

It's no secret that vampires all the rage right now what with the success of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series turned movie, HBO's True Blood (also based off a book series) and the CW's Vampire Diaries (again, also based off a book series). Whichever you're a fan of, here's a look that encompasses the spirit of vampires: sexy, sensual and elegant with a hint of darkness.

First off, gather the items you'll need for this look. For the eyes I'm going with smoky but not harsh, so go with a deep brown shadow and a matte taupe shade. You'll also need a black liquid eyeliner, false lashes are optional and your favorite mascara. For the face we're going to keep it fresh and clean, maybe even go a shade lighter in powder than your normal color. For the lips it has to be blood red. Think red apples, it's a red that has sort of a dark undertone to it. NYX's 'Black Cherry' may work for some people for this look but I personally find it too dark. If it were a little more red it would be the perfect shade.

Once you have all of your tools start by prepping your face, i.e. cover up any blemishes and flaws, and prime your eyelids. You want your canvas to be as clean and blank as possible, pale even. Sorry Twihards, I don't do glittering vamps.

The first step are the eyes. Start by applying a matte taupe shade with your shadow brush from your inner corner towards the middle, then apply the deep brown shade from the outer corners towards the middle, and blend where the two colors meet. Using a fluffy shadow brush pick up a small amount of the matte taupe shade and apply it along the inner lid and up towards the brow bone. The shadow part is done so curl your lashes and apply your false lashes (optional), and a coat of mascara. The last step for the eyes is to apply liquid eyeliner along the lash line and flick it out just slightly at the edge. Oh, don't forget your eyebrows. Defined eyebrows really play a part in pulling the whole look together.

To finish off this glamorous vampire look apply your red lipstick of choice. The rest is up to hair and clothes. You should sort of look like a 50s pin-up but with an edge. I'm not really sure why modern female vampires tend to look like old Hollywood movie stars.

What ever the occasion this look could be pulled off by anyone, and it doesn't even have to be Halloween.
