Glee to Make a Britney Spears Themed Episode

"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that he will officially be filming an episode of the hit FOX show dedicated to singer Britney Spears in the near future.

The show that takes former hit songs from Journey, Aerosmith and others and remakes them to expose them to a new audience has already had a Lady Gaga and Madonna themed shows. The latter two were the biggest ratings gainers in the shows first season.

Ryan Murphy already hinted at the idea of a Britney Spears show in the April issue of EW, but wasn't able to get permission to use the singers songs until Friday.

While Murphy said he would really like to get Britney to make a cameo in the episode, he still has not heard back from Spears' representative about her schedule and whether making it on the show is an option. But, back in April Britney did take to her official Twitter account to tweet her enthusiasm about the show theme and the offer to make an appearance on the show.

Murphy also hinted in the Entertainment Tonight interview that he has big plans for a huge "Glee" tribute episode that will be airing after the Super Bowl on February 6th 2011. When Entertainment Tonight asked him if it would be a Michael Jackson themed show Murphy answered "close," but wouldn't give any details.
