Glee Cast and Their Controversial Photos

What Has Happened to the Good Girl Rachael?

Shana Dines
I love the show Glee and heard about controversial photos of the Glee stars in the news. I had no idea how racy they were until I stumbled across this on the Internet. I have had some issues with the performances on Glee because of the nearly pornographic dance routines. In spite of that I still love the show.

Glee helps to show how traumatic teen pregnancy is to a teenager. It doesn't promote teen sex. Teenagers, especially girls don't realize how devastating it can be to be sexually active. It isn't just about the sexual act, but about the emotional devastation that occurs when a girl gets involved sexually. That is a whole other issue.

I am glad that they have shown what the consequences are of teenage pregnancy. I think that it really trivializes giving a baby up for adoption Quinn giving her baby to Rachel's biological mother is definitely trite but it does at least show that there is pain involved in handing your baby over to someone else so that you can continue your life.

Here I go again into a completely different direction. I also think that Mr. "Shoe" and his infatuation with Miss Emma Pillsbury because his wife is such a conniving bitch glamorizes adultery. There are a lot of immoral tangles in the show. It can be funny to adults who realize that this is a bit satirical. Everybody loves to hate Sue Sylvester. She is so very funny and a great actress. Again I don't like how they trivialize issues like her blackmailing the principal after having sex with him, or at least making him think that he has had sex with her.

I still love the show. I love the music, most of it. I don't like Britney Spears as a role model, less than that is Lady Gaga, that I refer to unaffectionately as Lady Gag Gag. I love the episode where religion and spirituality are the main theme. I love how Kurt's father has accepted his homosexuality.

What I hate though is how the Glee characters have posed in these disgustingly provocative, sexual poses. Especially Rachael who is the "good" girl. I know that many will think that it is completely acceptable. I don't. I think again that it shows teenage girls that to be popular, desirable and acceptable, is to dress and act like sluts.

I'm a Gleek, too, primarily for the song & dance routines. It's not good as a teen role model show, & the whole thing is riddled w/ unrealistically expensive costumes & backdrops for a high school glee club, not to mention preposterous plot lines, but that's part of the fun, & I can't help being sucked in! As far as the photos, which I have not seen, I figure these are adult actors, not actual kids. But it does send confusing messages to young people. You make good points here, Shana.

I don't know where I've been. I've never heard of this! I guess I'd better crawl out of my writing cave and start paying attention. LOL

I haven't watched Glee, but I've heard it's really good. I agree with you, though, about promoting sex. I'm tired of seeing it. You'd think people would realize talent is worth more than being sexy.

I love "Glee." I haven't seen the GQ cover; it's not a magazine we ever buy.

GQ is known for racy magazine. I honestly think they knew what they were doing when they signed on for the shoot. You can't promote any celebrity as role models for your kids, no matter what image they portray. Not that I agree with the pictures, but I think people forget that these are 20-somethings playing teenagers.
