'Glee' Episode May Tackle Gay Suicide

In light of the recent and alarming amount of bullying related teen suicides occurring in the U.S, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy may be considering the idea of writing a special episode tackling gay suicide.

In recent weeks, news has reported that eighteen year old Tyler Clementi committed suicide after his college roommate allegedly broadcast video footage of Clementi and another male getting intimate. Roommate Dharun Ravi then tweeted about his invasion of privacy, suggesting that other people should watch the video too.

Since this happened, many famous faces have started to get involved in helping to stomp out bullying - in particular an organisation called the Trevor Project with the motto "It Gets Better" is coming to the forefront. Similar to the UK's Childline charity, The Trevor Project is a free helpline for teens who are considering suicide to discuss their concerns.

Ryan Murphy, creator of the hit television show "Glee" has tackled many teen problems through the show, and with gay suicides seemingly on the increase, this could be his next issue he addresses.

Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuster in "Glee" said, "Ryan wants to do an episode about it, which I think is very smart of him. As a cast I don't know much we can do. That's why I think an episode would be great... Ryan is very current with staying on the times, so I think it would be this season if it were to happen."

Chris Colfer, who plays gay teen Kurt in the show has recorded a special video to anyone who may currently be tormented by bullies because of their homosexuality, letting them know that he once walked in their shoes. It's an inspirational message, and only good can come from anything highlighting this problem.

A television show as popular as "Glee" will certainly appeal to the masses, so it would be really great to see Ryan Murphy's idea becoming a reality.
