Glee Karaoke Revolution Wii Video Game Review
Use Your Wii to Sing Along with Your Favorite Glee Character
How the Glee video game works:
When the song begins, lyrics and rhythm indicators are displayed on the screen, helping the player keep herself in tune and on pitch. Because Konomi produced Glee Karaoke Revolution, it uses the same excellent voice and pitch recognition that their other games do. However, even if you're a bad singer (like me!), you'll still be able to play this game-when it comes to scoring, the system is quite forgiving and generous. If you have a favorite Glee singer, the game's "Scrapbook" mode allows you to search for songs sung by character, whether it's Rachel, Quinn, Kurt, Mercedes, Will or more.
Songs: Each of the 30 songs from Season 1 feature a video montage of clips from the show as you're singing along to the song. In some instances, you'll be treated to unreleased Glee footage, which is sure to please the true "Gleek." Some of the songs included in the Glee video game include "Don't Stop Believing," "Proud Mary," "Gold Digger," "Sweet Caroline," "Imagine" and "Defying Gravity."
Is Glee Karaoke Revolution game suitable for children?
For the most part, yes. There is no violence in this video game, and no mention or visuals of drug use, alcohol or other libations. There's no naughty language, but a few of the songs have references to sex, such as Salt 'N Peppa's "Push It."
Any downsides to this game?
True karaoke buffs will be disappointed to know that you cannot turn the lead vocals off (and in a sense, this hindrance makes the game not a "true" karaoke game). The game does not offer online access or DLC, so if you want songs from season 2, you'll have to wait to buy the Season 2 game when it comes out.
Price: For $59.99, you can get Glee Karaoke Revolution and the USB microphone. Or, if you already have a microphone from another game, you can purchase just the game for around $40. If you plan on doing this as a multiplayer game (which, in my opinion is the most fun!), consider buying the game with the included USB microphone if you only own one.
Bottom Line: If you're a true Gleek and love karaoke games, Glee Karaoke Revolution is a must for your Wii gaming library!
