Lady Gaga says it's OK to use her material on Glee

There has been a lot in the news about Lady Gaga's sexuality, some say she is transgendered, with Lady Gaga's blog seeming to confirm it, in the article titled "Lady Gaga Transgender Updates", from the Entertainment Daily, as quoted from Lady Gaga's blog post

It's not something that I'm ashamed of, just isn't something that i go around telling everyone. Yes. I have both male and female genitalia, but I consider myself a female. Its just a little bit of a penis and really doesn't interfere much with my life. The reason I haven't talked about it is that it's not a big deal to me. Like come on, it's not like we all go around talking about our vags. I think this is a great opportunity to make other multiple gendered people feel more comfortable with their bodies. I'm sexy, I'm hot. i have both a poon and a peener. big ****ing deal. (Entertainment Daily)

This week's Glee episode was about sexuality and discrimination, which aligned itself perfectly with the DADT Military policy that is being discussed in the news.

Watching the show

I asked my daughter as we were watching Glee, if that was Lady Gaga singing with one of the female leads, doing 'Poker face'. The woman was starring as one of the Gleester's stage mother's. "No way. That wasn't Lady Gaga", my daughter said, but after going on the web and looking at Lady Gaga's profile with her wig and make-up I was still doubtful about her reply. I was almost positive it was her, playing herself.

Back in March, Bridget Daley, on Hollyscoop reported "According to MSN, Glee creator Ryan Murphy said, "We reached out to Lady Gaga and she said, 'Yes, I'd love to be a part of it.' So we will be doing Lady Gaga this season." Read more: http://www.hollyscoop.com/tv/lady-gaga/lady-gaga-to-guest-star-on-glee_2230.aspx#ixzz0p3jbOmdi

Glee is like Fame, a musical show with a weekly theme

First of all, let me back up. My daughter told me about Glee and that I should watch it a few weeks ago, but because I have been wrapped up in Idol and usually trying to publish an American Idol article at that time, I blew her and the show off.

Then I watched two episodes ago with her on the DVR playback. At first I wasn't impressed at all. I thought the show was rather slow moving, but my daughter told me it was a musical show like Fame, which I loved, so I hung in there, and I was glad that I did.

Tuesday's Show on Glee - it was Idina not Lady Gaga playing the mom

This week on Glee (Tuesday's 5/25/2010 show), there were several segments. The Glee team dressed up in honor of Lady Gaga's thematic garb, in various costumes reminiscent of her tour ensembles.

One of the students, Rachel, had two dads, she confronts her long-lost mother in the show. The parody here is that Rachel dresses up to look like Gaga, and then I believed, that Gaga played herself as Rachel's mother in the duet, "Poker Face".

Well in the end, although the mother looked like Lady Gaga might look without makeup and a wig, Perez Hilton says, "Idina Menzel, You're the Mother."

The harmonies sung on this song were simply stunning but it turns out my kid was right, yet again. I was wrong. It wasn't Lady Gaga playing herself on Glee after-all. It was Idina Menzel, singing a beautiful rendition of Gaga's "Poker face, with actress Rachel." Idina did a beautiful job, but I wish it had been Lady Gaga without her make-up.

Living a life as both a male and a female - always a surprise - have to lie and hide

As I read the lyrics to Poker Face, it made me realize that the song is probably about being born transgendered or dual sexed, or inter-sexed, as the term is more widely used now, and having to hide behind a lie. Being forced to choose the male or female box on every form you ever had to fill out, when in actuality, you want a box that gives you the option for "both".
