"Glee": Parent Teacher Conferences

Many major celebrities have appeared on "Glee" since it became such an incredible hit. This season, we've seen John Stamos, Britney Spears and even Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow. The episodes seem to be more about the stars and their characters than the "Glee" main characters. An episode focusing specifically on new characters but giving them a connection to the main characters would be amazing. But, how would they pull this off?

The answer is simple, when you think about it: Parent-Teacher Conferences. All high schools have Parent-Teacher Conferences. Some schools even cease classes for a day or two so that teachers can give their reports to their students' parents. A "Glee" episode of Parent-Teacher Conferences could bring in quite a few older celebrities with some massive talent.

Lola Lopez, Mom of Santana Lopez
Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera) does a fantastic job playing the bad girl of McKinley High. She had to learn it from somewhere, but where? Enter Ms. Lola Lopez, Santana's single mom. Lola toured with Carlos Santana right after she graduated high school as a dancer, and got pregnant on the road. She received a lot of money from Santana's father, as long as she would never reveal his true identity. She never did, although she named her daughter Santana. Lola maintains a wicked hot bod and groupie mentality, flirting with anything with a penis and a pulse. In her early thirties, Lola oozes sexuality and a complete disregard for authority. Casting suggestion: Jennifer Lopez, Paula Abdul. Song suggestions: Mash-up of "Whatever Lola Wants" and "Copacabana".

Rachel Berry's Dads
There is speculation all over the internet about who should play the gay fathers of Rachel Berry (Lea Michele). If you are a die hard fan of "Glee", then you know that a photo booth strip of Rachel and her dads was shown in the pilot. However, these men - a Jewish man and an African American man - are unidentified. Will "Glee" producers replace the original fathers with two singing celebrity sensations? That would make "Glee" seem like a cop out. Obviously, the producers didn't realize that "Glee" was going to be such a huge hit, and didn't anticipate the buzz that was going to be created for the characters, especially when Kurt (Chris Colfer) came out of the closet. Fans are calling for celebrities such as Taye Diggs and Hugh Jackman to step into the roles. But, what about the men in Rachel's photo? These men should appear on the show as Rachel's fathers and not be full of talent like their daughter. Instead, they should come in with Rachel Berry t-shirts, her photo in a big gold star on the front of their chest. It would make it even more comical if they weren't able to sing or dance, showing that Rachel got all of her talent from her birth mother, Shelby (Idina Menzel).

Parents Fans Know
Fans already know Quinn's parents, played by Charlotte Ross and Gregg Henry. Fans celebrated as Finn (Cory Monteith) and Kurt became step-brothers when Finn's mom (Romy Rosemont) married Kurt's dad (Mike O'Malley). Believe it or not, Puck's (Mark Salling) mother (Gina Hecht) was shown in an episode as well.

Isabella and Arthur Abrams, Sr., Parents of Artie Abrams
Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale) and his mother were in a massive car accident when Artie was eight years old, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. His mother walked away from the accident unscathed. Artie's father has never been mentioned. Isabella should be, in Puck's terms, a "total MILF" and totally doting over Artie. Artie, of course, would be completely embarassed by this. Arthur should be a complete jock, perhaps a football coach at a college or another high school. Arthur would be outrageously proud that Artie is now on the high school football team. It would be interesting if Arthur and Isabella were their high school's prom king and queen. Rather than singers, it would be somewhat sad and sentimental if Artie's parents were amazing dancers. Casting suggestions: Arthur: Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Warner; Isabella: Jennifer Grey, Kylie Minogue.

Dr. Clayton and Dee Dee Jones, Parents of Mercedes Jones
It has already been established on "Glee" that Mercedes's (Amber Riley) dad is a dentist, but that is all that is known about her parents. Dr. Jones should be a soft-spoken, kind man with a medium build and perhaps a slight stature. Dr. Jones definitely needs to wear glasses. Dee Dee, on the other hand, is a bit older than her husband. Dee Dee is where Mercedes got her diva attitude. Loud, brash and the center of attention - always looking fabulous, of course - Dee Dee Jones has a reason to be a Diva: She is the voice of Lima, Ohio's soul radio station. Casting suggestions: Clayton: Alfonso Ribeiro, Taye Diggs; Dee Dee: Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, Queen Latifah.

Jessica Cohen and Shin "Shawn" Chang, Parents of Tina Cohen-Chang
Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz) has a hyphenated last name, yet no one knows why. Tina has admitted to her boyfriend Mike Chang (Harry Shum, Jr.) that she really isn't a traditional Asian woman. Her parents should be the reason for that. Her mother, Jessica Cohen, is a liberal feminist that used to be an Orthodox Jew. When she met her husband, Shin (who tells everyone, "Call me Shawn"), in college, she was swept off her feet by his laid-back demeanor and the way he broke the stereotype of Asian men. She left the confines of Orthodox Judiaism and married the man of her dreams. Together, Jessica and Shin have a very free-range approach to parenting and allow Tina to do whatever she wants. Surprisingly for any teenage girl, all Tina wants is a little bit of structure and discipline. Casting suggestions: Jessica: Sarah Jessica Parker, Minnie Driver; Shawn: B.D. Wong.

Chung Cha and Dingbang Chang, Parents of Mike Chang
It has already been established that Mike Chang's parents are a little uptight and traditional. Tina even complains that she wants a better date than going to have dimsum with Mike's mom in one episode. Mike's parents are the Asian stereotype. His mother, Chung Cha, is Korean and his father, Dingbang, is Chinese. Together, they own a chain of dry cleaners throughout Ohio. Chung Cha is very strict and has a lot to say, but she is a Korean immigrant so it can be difficult to understand her at times. Dingbang is a man of few words, but wants his son to live the American dream that he created for him. Casting suggestions: Chung Cha: Margaret Cho; Dingbang: Chow Yun-Fat.

Caroline and Maximillian DuBois, Mother and Step-Father of Sam Evans
Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet) is the new transfer student, and he appears th be a bit too perfect. He confided in Quinn (Dianna Agron) that he transferred from an all-boys boarding school, but never mentioned why. Perhaps Sam needs a difficult home life to give his character more depth. Sam's mother, Caroline, is a gold digger. She married a successful psychiatrist several years her senior, who decided that sending Sam away to boarding school was the best idea for the family. After a year or two in boarding school, he finally confinced his mom and step-father to let him go to public school when they moved into a larger house. Sam has no relationship with Max, and can't wait until he can move out to go to college. Casting suggestions: Maximillian: Kelsey Grammer; Caroline: Pamela Anderson, Heather Locklear, Jenny McCarthy.

Abigail Van Maarten, Grandmother of Brittany Pierce
People often wonder why Brittany (Heather Morris) is so dense. Perhaps it is because her mother and father are missionaries that think their humanitarian work is more important than their children. Brittany and her seven year old sister have been raised by their Dutch grandmother, who is more interested in her bridge and canasta games with the ladies at the club than raising her grandchildren. Abigail is just there so that her grandchildren aren't raised by strangers. Abigail loves her grandchildren, but really doesn't really know how to raise children in this day and age. She didn't even notice that Brittany was lost in the sewers all summer. Abigail thinks that the girls can raise themselves, and checks in every now and again. Casting suggestions: Tyne Daly, Bernadette Peters.
