'Glee' Sings Justin Bieber in February, Song Choice Speculation Ensues

Potential Bieber Covers from New Directions

While it may seem like a joke from the twisted mind of Sue Sylvester, Justin Bieber's songs are going to be the musical focus of an upcoming episode of the hit FOX series "Glee" according to reports from Yahoo! TV and thousands of tween girls the world over. Episodes of "Glee" completely or partially devoted to one artist are nothing uncommon for the program. Madonna and Lady Gaga both had special episodes in Season 1 and "Britney/Brittany," a tribute to Britney Spears was the second episode of Season 2.

In the case of Britney Spears and Madonna, both artists had a broad catalog of songs for the "Glee" kids to sing, and on her episode, "Theatricality," Lady Gaga material was interspersed with two Kiss songs to compensate for her not being able to supply the musical entertainment for an entire show.

Bieber, however, does not have an expansive selection of music and possesses even fewer single selections, the main choice for contemporary "Glee" performances based on fan familiarity. The idea of Justin Bieber dedicated show seems a bit forced, but since it is a reality, fans are left with little else to do except speculate about song selections and potential singers.

"Somebody to Love"

Artie's fast paced vocalizations would be a very good match for the rapid fire delivery of various phrases in Justin Bieber's song "Somebody to Love." If Kevin McHale were to perform this particular song, it is likely he would actually do a more interesting version than Bieber as Artie's method of delivery always lets viewers see songs in a different way. He doesn't have the powerful voice of some of his fellow Glee club members, but he is all style.

"One Time"

"One Time" was the lead single from Justin Bieber's first issue, "My World." It is unlikely that "Glee" would overlook this single. A song this cutesy is best suited to Chord Overstreet's character, Sam, especially considering he is dating Quinn, the softest spoken "Glee" singer. Chord also has a semi-Bieber haircut which makes the song work on multiple levels.

"Baby"

Considering the official break-up of Finn and Rachel on the Christmas episode of "Glee" followed by hints from Lea Michele on E!Online that there are still moments ahead for "Finchel," "Baby" could be a number that either Finn or Rachel sings or that they duet on. Face it Gleeks, Finchel duets have been one of the highlights of "Glee" from the beginning. Without this power couple, the show wouldn't be half as fun!

There are a few other Bieber songs that are likely to make the cut depending on whether or not a full hour of "Glee" features nothing but Justin Bieber. "Somebody to Love," "One Time" and "Baby" are three songs that could seemingly fit into the show and work for certain characters. All and all though, a group of upperclassmen singing songs better suited to teeny boppers makes one wonder if the toddler New Directions members from "The Substitute " episode will be reappearing to croon the best of the Bieber.
