Glen Davis Works Some Post-season "Magic"

The Boston Celtics' sophomore power forward Glen "Big Baby" Davis nailed two clutch jump shots, one from the top of the key and the other from behind the Orlando Magic logo, and the Celtics snatched their 95-94 victory from the jaws of defeat.

With under a minute on the clock, most defenses will focus in on Ray Allen and Paul Pierce to take the final shot. And that's exactly what the Orlando Magic did on Sunday night. But in so doing, they forgot about Davis and allowed him to get wide open for the final shot.

He ran up the Magic sideline and nearly knocked a fan over in his excitement. His teammates were equally excited for him, jumping up and down and embracing the former LSU star in his moment of triumph.

When asked what his role was on the last play, an emotional and exhausted Davis said, "just doing my assignment - being ready to shoot." And that's exactly what he did; He set up a brilliant pick and got open for the shot. Rashard Lewis was assigned to defend him, but allowed Big Baby to put up 21 points against the Magic, who practically ignored him as a shooter all night.

A second-year player may be wary to take such an important shot, but Davis showed immense poise and mettle in the final minute of a close game. "You've got to, you know, basically think without thinking. Just shoot it. And that's what happened."

Davis' clutch jump shot regained home court advantage in what is now a best-of-three series, with both teams tied at two games apiece. "We're going back home with a win, and that's all that matters...I know our fans are going to be in tune with us, and we're going to be focused and ready to play the game."
