Glendale Community College in Glendale, California is putting on two plays this semester.

Opening first is Savage in Limbo, by John Patrick Shanley. Which centers around Denise Savage, a woman who is a virgin at 32, and meeting former friends in a seedy bar. Her friends Linda and April, along with Murk the bartender and Linda's boyfriend, Tony all take the plot through interesting twists and turns along the way. Both exceedingly endearing, and comical at times, this play also tugs at the heartstrings. Touching on the themes of loneliness, unfaithfulness, and betrayal. Savage in Limbo is a play that is not to be missed. Performances start October 9th-19th in the Studio Theater on campus. Tickets are available at the door.

Next on the Fall playbill is William Shakespeare's Macbeth. Set in 1940's film noir style, at the end of WWII, director Jeanette Farr puts her own unique spin on this classic tale. The Play focuses on Macbeth, a Scottish nobleman and his bloody rise and fall from power. Explored in this play will be politics, mental illness, spirituality, and much more. Performances for this show are November 6th-16th, and are in the Mainstage Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door, or by calling (818) 240-1000 ext. 5618.

The theater department at this college has won numerous awards for not only acting, but set design, costuming, and lighting. All areas promise to be especially stunning this season. Glendale College's Theater department is also having auditions for its spring play Once Upon A Mattress November 19th and 20th. If you are inspired to join the successful tradition after watching these two terrific performances. For more information you can go to www.glendale.edu/theater, or contact the head of the department, Melissa Randel. The school is located at 1500 North Verdugo Road, Glendale, CA 91208; doors for both shows open half an hour before curtain.
