Glenn Beck Rally Sham

Dear Editor (Anywhere in the world): This is my opinion and my opinion alone. In response to the so-called pseudo-civil rights rally of tea party favorite and conservative talk show host of the FOX network, Glenn Beck. Was it me or did you feel kind of uncomfortable in viewing the Glenn Beck rally to see that it seemed to only contain white faces. And the garb of those were conservative. And the signs that Mr. Beck was suppose to have forbid were conservative in tone. For example one sign I saw via the Internet probably a swipe against the Obama administration and the Democrats: Dust the Marxist usurper-His Czar and Thugs-Honduras did it! And the sign had the picture of the head of a King Cobra and the acronym D.T.O.M (Don't tread on me). Another telling detail was on the T-shirt of a Beck supporter from Chicago, her name was Catherine Wojtowicz, a self-employed event organizer, her T-shirt carried one time fallen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's name, it also had "Babies,Guns,Jesus." Now let me pause for a moment right here. Glenn Beck on his radio show exhorted those who were going to his rally to not bring or carry signs. He did not want the rally be about hatred,animosity or malice. In essence he wanted it to mirror the rally of slain civil rights giant Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Forgive me Mr. Beck. You went way,way off track. How??? Why would you allow people at your rally and color has nothing to do with it, to carry guns. Or even foment any kind of conversation that has to do with violence. Including the play up you did on patriotism in light of the conflict in the Persian Gulf? Dr. King and many in the civil rights movement almost fifty years ago and today were majorly opposed to the war in Vietnam and many today oppose the conflicts in the middle east that the US is involved in. Back during Vietnam Reverend Jesse Jackson and Reverend Sharpton and of course Dr. King and his followers opposed the war and violence. Today that has not changed. Myself I served my country during the time of the ending of the Cold War and a Little in the Persian Gulf. So I can see the coin on both sides. But there are three sides most of the time to any story. Glenn Beck had his so-called "Restoring Honor" to America rally. And then he also called it a rally of America turning back to God. Was that a swipe against the President of the United States. Who some in some strange and deranged way still see President Obama as a Muslim and a Marxist? Was it Beck saying that the majority of Americans are Godless? Like Ann Coulture once said in her book calling the Democratic Party,the Godless Party. Beck's rally was a sham. He compares it to the rally of Dr. King's. But you can't. No one carried guns to Dr. King's rally. Dr. King did not play up or play down the war movement. His speech "I Have a Dream" was an all inclusive speech for all people. Not just white people and not just conservatives. That's what i heard and saw in the rally of Glenn Beck. Now if I saw that in Mr. Beck's rally what did I see in Reverend Al Sharpton's rally? Was it just a all African-American rally? Was it attended by only black people? Did it only espouse ideals for black people? Would you be surprised to know that I say no to all the above. But I ask you to formulate your own opinion and not be led by mine. Though I am sticking with it. I saw Rev. Sharpton's rally as more of a mix of all races and all segments of America and maybe the world. I am not sure if Rev. Sharpton dissuaded his supporters from carrying signs,placards and just things that would cast a shadow of the memory of Dr. Kings speech and his ideals. I am sure that Rev. Al would have been very upset if anyone would have wanted to carry guns and so on to his rally in memory of his friend and mentor Dr. King. You see Rev. Sharpton is a Preacher and Glenn Beck is not. You can't compete with God. Sure a good speaker can outtalk a Preacher with flowery words,charismatic mannerisms and sway the crowd. But God works through a Preacher. The media got it wrong. Al Sharpton did not have to compete with Glenn Beck and he wasn't as he was interviewed by Geraldo Rivera on his show. I have so much more to say but I'll end it on that note for now. Beware of Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin. Remember the story of Alice in Wonderland!!!
