Glenn Beck: "Sinister Forces Want to Shoot Me in the Head"

Recently Glen Beck said that sinister forces in America might soon"shoot me in the head". But Beck really has nothing to worry about. If anyone shot Beck in the head the bullet would most assuredly miss his brain since that is a target way too small to hit.

The other reason Beck has nothing to worry about is that he is part of the sinister forces in America, part of the usual collection of scapegoaters who, if they don't get their way shake their baby rattles and throw temper tantrums until someone pays attention to them.

These are conservatives who never got over the Sixties when they were proved wrong about everything from Viet Nam to the environment and their idea of values meant repressing blacks, women, and other minorities so they wouldn't have to rely on their own merit to get what they wanted. To them America was a franchise and they were the franchise owners. Then, as they do now, they considered themselves the"true" Americans as if they needed everyone else to share their beliefs in order to validate their way of life for themselves. Those who didnt were"un-American".

That was the sixties version of conservatives and many of them just passed it down to the next generation. The Republicans learned how to exploit them and pander to them to get votes and divisive politics were off and running from Nixon's presidency to the present.

These are the people that are the audience for Glenn Beck. It's hard to know if Beck really believes the nonsense he puts out. He gives off this little bad boy smirk, the kind you get from a 13 year old who just wrote something dirty on the wall of the boys bathroom. And that's pretty much what Beck is. A case of arrested adolescent development but with a much bigger bathroom wall than any other 13 year old and he scrawls on it every day.

Recently Time magazine put Beck on the cover. One assumes they are tracking sales closely because that could be the only reason to do it. Since then, other news organizations have done interviews with Beck thinking that, if Time can put him on the cover that validates them using Beck to scrounge for ratings.

What Beck never says, and what conservatives never say and never admit, is that they had 8 years to run the country and they stunk at it. Really stunk. Under Republican leadership the country got hit with the worst attack on American soil by a foreign enemy in U.S. history and this from the party that likes to beat its chest over national security. And from there, Iraq, Katrina, and the worst economic mess since the 1930s'. They were bungling, incompetent, inept, and caused more man made disasters than any US government in history.

Beck. who became famous for his on air weeping ("I just really love my country") presumably shed no tears over the incompetency of Republicans that led to 911 and all the other catastrophies visited on the United States by the Republicans And obviously Glenn Beck and his fans haven;t had enough..

Beck and these conservatives never acknowledge the disasters caused by Republicans and conservatives. And maybe it doesn't matter. Because what most of these people are about is not what they love but who and what they hate.

Beck calls Obama a racist ( Obama is many things, including so far showing he doesn't have a clue about how to do anything but make a speech and even that doesn't work half the time, but he is no racist) they call people who support health care reform socialists and Nazis, and they scream and yell because they know that being loud and stupid gets you on television when being quiet and stupid doesn't.

Something Glenn Beck knows all about.

Beck has been around a long time so you can't call him a fad. He's just been rattling the cage louder to get attention and some people are giving it to him including some now in the main stream media who would always rather cover a spitting match than a conversation.

An organized effort to get advertisers to drop Beck from their schedules has been fairly successful with many, including Geico Insurance, dropping Beck. And there will probably be more pressure in the future to punish Beck with advertiser boycotts. Which could cause Beck's Bad Boy to start cleaning up the bathroom wall. Or, given his thriving ratings, throw a baseball through the window.

Either way the whine you hear out of Beck is nothing new. And doesn't get any better with age.
