Glittery Pumpkin Kids Craft

Shannon Lugo
Halloween is right the corner and we all know what that means- time to bust out the costumes and candy. As most of us gear up to go Halloween decoration shopping, some hit the craft stores instead. If you have small children then this craft idea is for you. I have decided to share this craft idea that I have done with my parents when I was a child, this is a great craft for kids who like to help decorate the house and yard for all hallows eve. I hope you enjoy this family favorite of mine.

Glittery Pumpkin:

Here is a list of several things you will need for this craft:

Fabric- black, green and orange

Scissors

Bottle of Glue

Wiggle Eyes

Glitter (any color)

White crayon or chalk

Popsicle sticks

Hole punch

String (your choice)

Draw a pumpkin on the orange fabric, any size, and cut it with the safety scissors. Next, draw the stem of the pumpkin on the green fabric and cut it out, setting it aside. Cut a small block from the black fabric and draw the nose and mouth (eyes are optional) with the white crayon or chalk, setting them aside as well.

Take the green stem and glue it to the top of your orange pumpkin, set aside to dry. As the pumpkin is drying, take the black piece of fabric that you cut and cut out the facial features for the pumpkin. Carefully glue the face of the pumpkin on after the stem is dried. Set the pumpkin aside for a few minutes to dry after applying the facial features.

After the pumpkin is fully dry and now looking like a pumpkin, it's time to give it a little flare. Take your popsicle stick and apply some glue to the tip. Gently run it over the face and stem of the pumpkin, not globing it but leaving a sufficient amount for the Wiggle Eyes and the glitter. Carefully place an eye, if you want, on each side of the pumpkins nose. Sprinkle some glitter onto the pumpkin and the stem until you are satisfied. Let the pumpkin set for several minutes so it can finish drying.

Now it is time to add the last little bit to your pumpkin. When the pumpkin is dry, punch a hole in the top of the stem and tie the string in a secure knot through the hole. Hang the pumpkins on your porch, in your doorway or any place that people will see them. If you wanted, you could also purchase thin magnets with sticky backs and turn them into magnets and put them on your refrigerator and show them off that way.
