Every little girl I know would love to make and wear these sparkling glitter covered sunglasses! This fun girly craft project is also very doable in a short time.
Try having the kids make their glittery sunglass frame craft project over some newspaper. Any glitter that falls on the newspaper can be simply poured back into the container by picking up the newspaper and using it to pour the loose glitter.
Check out your local dollar store for affordable sunglasses on a budget. No need to worry about what color they are because soon they will be covered in glitter.
To Make These Glittery Sunglasses You Will Need:
White glue
Water
Disposable cup
Paintbrush
Sunglasses
Glitter or sparkling sand (any color)
Hot glue and hot glue gun
Glittery puff paint or puff paint
The first step so to water down some of your white glue in a disposable cup. I like to make mine 2 parts white glue and one part water.
Now, use a paintbrush to paint on the glue in any pattern you would like on the Sunglasses. You can make polka dots, stripes, swirls, and even hearts. You could also cove the entire Sunglasses in white glue and paint for solid glittery Sunglasses.
Now, roll your Sunglasses in the glitter. You could also sprinkle the glitter on. Glitter sand or colored sand also works really well. If you are trying to coat the entire Sunglasses in glitter you may find you need to add a second coat of glue and glitter once the first coat dries.
Now, you can also add a sweet touch to the Sunglasses. I like to cut a piece of that tiny pearl ribbon and use the hot glue gun to glue it to the edge of the Sunglasses frame. Simply run a thin bead and then press it into place.
To finish off the Sunglasses you need to let them sit and dry. You can let them rest on a flat surface.
Now, for a really unique and glittery look for your Sunglasses try leaving the Sunglasses the same color plastic it came as. Roll them in the watery glue, and then roll it in glitter that is the same color as the Sunglasses. This is a great look I you are using solid colored sunglasses. You can roll them in white or silvery white glitter. It will emphasize the original color of the Sunglasses and give a more finished look.
If you want to make these Sunglasses look retro you could paint the plastic Sunglasses robins egg blue or bubble gum pink, then add the glitter in the same color.
Now, if you don't want the kids to get glitter all over the house try using glittery puff paint to decorate your Sunglasses with a little sparkle. It gives the same glittery look minus the mess!
