Global Warming Will Cause Severe Problems If Not Immediately Addressed Experts Warn

Scientific Panel Warns of Near Future World Catastrophes

Scientists released a 67 page study on the effects of Global Warming on North America, as part of an International Conference. The United States was warned that if issues were not addressed immediately, North America as well as the rest of the world will face catastrophic conditions. Military reports issued by former Army Chief of Staff General Gordon R. Sullivan, warns that sea-levels will rise, flooding and destabilizing already volatile countries in Southern Asia, such as Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Vietnam. Droughts in Africa will continue to increase making already harsh conditions more severe. Starvation will become the norm. This will create the need for possible U.S. Military intervention, due to the increase in extremism and movement toward higher authoritarianism and forced racial ideologies. This would also decrease availability of troops for our own National Security needs.

"Water increases or lack of it, in certain areas will be the cause of most of the world's problems" claims Professor Michael Oppenheimer, representing U.S. Princeton University GeoScience after a news conference that featured eight American scientists, who were lead authors of "The Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Changes and Climate Effect's Report".

An epidemiologist, also serving on the Scientific Panel continued to warn that lack of water will hinder human health issues. There will be mass migrations of people in parts of the world where there is already extreme poverty and starvation as humans begin to forage for food and shelter due to lack of food production and extreme drought or Coastal flooding.

Water is at the core of all we care about as human beings, including, every, human health, food production and politics. In the last decade weather patterns have begun to change causing extreme storms and hurricanes in parts of the world while creating severe freezing and winter storms in others. The rise of the Earth's temperature has risen slightly, which causes weather to change.

These changes of our Earth's climate might be blamed on what scientists and other experts call "The Greenhouse Effect." This is the condition that is created when the protective layer over the Earth's atmosphere dissipates letting in more harsh UV rays from the sun. Certain gases in the atmosphere such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane trap energy from the sun.Too much of these conditions can cause extreme heating of the earth's atmosphere. This can result in severe droughts and the melting of the Polar Ice-Cap. Coastal flooding would result. this effect can also cause the distinction of animal species that depend on ice and cold temperatures for survival. The Polar Bear has begun to feel the effects of this phenomenon. More bears are starving and loosing it's home as ice burgs continue to melt. Life as we know it will begin to disintegrate.

North America will start to experience lack of water in parts of the country. In Southwestern states where water is at a minimum, legal battles as well will commence. Arizona and Colorado already share water rights from the Colorado River, as does parts of California and Nevada.

Water will become our most valuable resource and the U.S. may turn to it's Great Lakes for a fresh water source. The predicted drought will cause the water level to decline there also. The Great Lake's borders are also shared with Canada who will also be in dire need of water. Fish and foul will starve, sicken and begin to die. On Eastern Coasts water will continue to rise due to melting ice. This will cause cities to become uninhabitable. This condition will also influence the building locations of future cities. Florida and other South-Eastern states, will face an increase and severity of Hurricanes and tornado's. Thousands of lives may be lost. Smog through out large cities will continue to rise, increasing smog levels which will bake cities. People may face a severe increase in lung problems.

Scientists have given us a decade or so, to begin to change our future. Hope of mankind lies in the dramatic reduction of the use of fossil-fuel emissions. Prevention of the destruction of our world rain forests must be stopped. Trees produce oxygen and decrease carbon dioxide. must act now. This is the only world that we have. It is our home and we need it to survive. It is our legacy to our children. The Earth is salvageable but we must act now.

  • Water shortages will cause severe draught in parts of the world and flooding in coastal areas.
  • The United States will fight for water rights.
  • Water will cause U.S. National Security issues.

What I don't understand about Global Warming is why it is so darn cold in Southern California this time of year! Though I don't understand the scientific explanation, I do know weather is being affected by Global Warming.

We are already seeing the effects of this phenomenon. If we wait too long, we'll have no hope of changing our future.
