Globalization According to Kabbalah: A Hidden Law of the Universe

Globalization is a Hidden Law of the Universe that is Being Releaved in Our Modern Times

Bnei Baruch
The wisdom of Kabbalah explains that the phenomenon known as "globalization" is a revelation of the hidden laws of the universe [1]. One of these laws states that humanity is like one organism - an interconnected system where each member is dependent on everyone and everyone is dependent on each person.

This does not come as a great surprise. After all, it is evident to the average person of the twenty-first century: just by observing one's surroundings, one can see and feel the web-like connection of the whole world. For example, a simple act such as buying a cup of coffee is dependent on the global system, starting from the country growing the coffee beans, to the factory manufacturing the coffee cups, and ending with the person providing you with the customer service. In contrast, in the past, whether one was a peasant or a tradesman, one had a small circle of people that he depended on. Thus, globalization shows us how all people have become connected in every area of life - in economy, ecology, science, culture, communication, and all other areas.

The global system is similar to how the human body or any other living organism works. Every single cell, whether animate or vegetative, operates altruistically, taking from the body the minimum required for its survival while giving everything else for the benefit of the whole body [2-3]. Research shows that cells which discontinue their normal function become cancerous and very harmful [4]. The abnormality that these cells display is uncontrolled growth or division, and the destruction of adjacent cells.

Globalization can have positive or negative effects depending on how each member of the single unified organism works - egoistically or altruistically. If people will act egoistically, humanity will be like a cancerous organ. If, on the other hand, people will behave altruistically, humanity will be like a perfect body, in harmony with nature's laws. Therefore, in order to bring about the positive effects of globalization, people's nature must be changed from egoistic to altruistic.

The American President, Barack Obama, and economy expert Timothy Geithner, recognize the overarching importance of the globalization phenomenon, as well as its direct connection to our problems - most notably, the global financial crisis. The financial crisis is a global problem affecting every country, and therefore, it needs global solutions. For all the reasons discussed above, the solution must be based on the idea of theglobal interdependency and the need for countries to unite, instead of turning to protectionism [5].

Globalization and interdependency have been growingly popular topics in the last ten to fifteen years, because global-scale technologies and communications have been literally putting it in our faces, through our computer screens and cellular devices. However, take note of what Kabbalist Yehuda Ashlag wrote about globalization and interdependency some seventy years ago, when at that time to connect with another person across the planet was still a matter of weeks! As a Kabbalist, he revealed through his personal revelation of the universe's hidden laws that humanity is one organism, and wrote what most scientists have been writing about only in the last ten-to-fifteen years:

"Do not be surprised if I mix together the well-being of a particular collective with the well-being of the whole world, because indeed we have already come to such a degree that the whole world is considered as one collective and one society"[6].
