Globe - Trotting with the Kiddies: First Stop Britain!

saba,ink
Recently, I've started thinking about traveling internationally with my children. Now that they are older and the world is becoming so interconnected, it's become a personal mission of mine to expose them to some of the great cities of the world. Britain has had such an important role to play in US history; I figured it would be a great place to start.

Traveling with children on a budget can be a challenge and it will be important that I stretch my dollar (especially with the Euro outpacing the dollar recently). Anyway, as I began to do my online research, I came across some really helpful websites like Cheaperthanhotels:United Kingdom that I will be using to plan our trek. Understanding the importance of educating my kids in global relations, I wanted to make sure that we captured the true essence of Britain by visiting places that offer authentic local flavor, culture and hospitality.

With that in mind, I've narrowed our British Tour down to London, Glasgow and Edinburgh. I figure London will give them the "big city" feel while Glasgow infuses a Scottish flair and Edinburgh would allow them to see the ancient castles that they've seen in movies and on TV. Okay, so now that I've got a plan of action, I will need to find affordable travel and accommodations and that is where "cheaper than hotels" comes in. This website puts all my available options in one place. In this case, Cheaperthanhotels:United Kingdomshowcases everything from apartments, guest houses, hostels and of course hotels. What is also nice about this site is the links to other great city information, as well as local trivia and insider information. This site is a nice clearinghouse of information that will serve as a one-stop shop as I prepare for our trip. With my busy schedule and life demands, I know I will not always have a chance to search items daily, so I decided to register on the site so that they can send me email blasts relevant to the things that I need and will want to do in Britain. I've also started inquiring about childcare because, I want to make sure to take in some of that much talked about British nightlife and fashion.

What's also cool for me, is that Cheaperthanhotels:United Kingdom, guarantees the cheapest prices which makes me confident that I will be able to stretch my budget. I've even checked out the site's language conversion chart to see what the text would look like in French, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, etc.... which is a really nice touch.

I can't wait to head back to Europe and start introducing my kids to life the way the other half lives.

So, Brits, here we come: One woman and two rugrats!

Great mom and lucky kids! When I graduated High School a penpal from England wanted to send me a plane ticket to visit. I declined because he was going to propse marriage and I knew I would say no, and did not want to "use" him. I never had any great desire to visit Great Britian. Castles sound fun, but I like hot, sunny and especially Islands.
