Glorious Saturday

Wiley Vaughn
It's a glorious Saturday morning
So put the books away
No day for tedious study
Today's a day for play.

We will be cowboys riding
Across the green grassy field
Then lose time in baseball
Till heat makes us yield.

Wander out to the woods
With knife for mumbly peg
Don't worry it's not sharp
We'll not cut our legs.

We'll be jolly pirates sliding
Across an ocean wet deck
In search of treasure always
Saving a pretty maid's neck.

Don't make us squander time
At many tasks I pray
We will always help some
Today please let us play.

Thanks for the poem. Next to payday, Saturdays are the best day of the week.

Always my favorite day of the week. Work the day before but not that day or the day after. In fact, if I have a week off (7 days), I think about it as 6 Saturdays followed by one Sunday (a day of no work followed by one when you do!)
