Glory Revealed Tour Heads Through the Southeast
Music from the CD Glory Revealed II Featured in Two Tour Outings
I use the word "concert" loosely. Glory Revealed (the tour) is really an evening of solace for the mind and soul. Before the first musical intermission, roughly 40 passages of Scripture have been sung over the crowd by some of the finest singers and songwriters in the Christian music industry.
The concert production, while professionally crafted, flows with a simplistic easiness that welcomes audience participation rather than mere observation. The effect is by design.
"We want you (the audience) to feel like you're just sitting on the porch with us," says Mac Powell, lead singer for Christian music supergroup Third Day. Powell spearheaded the production of both the tour and the CD.
Powell gathered nearly two dozen artists, most Gospel Music Association Dove Award and/or Grammy Award nominees or recipients, at Jeff Foxworthy's hunting lodge outside of Columbus, Georgia, in the summer of 2008 to record Glory Revealed II. Participants included Christian music icon Amy Grant, Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell, legendary youth pastor Mark Hall, along with a bevy of newcomers including Brandon Heath and Mike Donehey (Tenth Avenue North).
The eight mainstay touring members are occasionally joined by other recording artists on select dates. Hall hopped on the bus for the first four dates. Heath will go on stage in Birmingham.
Despite the stature of the individual musicians involved, Glory Revealed is amazingly devoid of egos. Lead singers morph seamlessly into background voices. Expert songwriters and acclaimed producers move from their well-deserved spotlights into the shadows of the songs.
So, if you are able, grab a ticket. If not, pick up the CD.
