Here in Toledo, glow bowling is offered at only a few of the bowling alleys in town, so be sure to call ahead and make sure your establishment is offering the entertainment. Most alleys will have glow bowling on Friday and Saturday nights, usually starting later in the evening like around 9 or 10 pm and going until well into the night.
When you first enter, expect to pay an entrance fee and a rental fee for shoes. IF you bring your own ball and shoes, you can skip the rental. Most will have a standard fee for the evening, allowing you to bowl as much as you feel up to for the night.
Before you even get to the alley, make sure to wear as much white and fluorescent clothing as you can...why you ask? Well, the most unique feature of the bowling alley will be all of the black lights that set the alley aglow for the night. So the more you dress to the environment, the brighter you will glow! Look down the individual alleys, and you will see what else is bright and glowing-it is the bowling pins. These will serve as the centerpiece to the décor.
Speaking of décor, most of the alleys have some type of paint/wall hangings that jump to life with the addition of all of the black lights. The simple pictures may now look a lot more alive in the new environment. The ceiling will have at least one if not multiple disco balls present, along with TV monitors showing funny clips or parts of movies. The normal food and drink services are almost always running also, so feel free to eat, drink and be merry as you play!
The first thing you will hear is a loud, dance soundtrack in the bowling alley. With any glow bowling night, you will hear the fun as well. A DJ or preset mix will spin hot dance tunes the whole night, to keep up with the fun, fast pace the alley shoots for.
So when you go, make sure to take a big group of friends and people you love to have a good time with, because this night will be a blast for you. Above all remember to let go of the ball when you throw, dance a little and just have a great time!
