Glue-on Kiss Nail Enhancements- Product Review

Lisa White ISSA & AFPA CPT
Several times during my life I've had acrylic nails applied over my real fingernails for the purpose of special occasions. Weddings or graduation ceremonies would send me to the nail salon with regret before I even had my nails done. After one application of acrylics I knew it wasn't for me. The smell of the chemicals were enough to give me a headache and to send my sinuses reeling but the worst part of my nails were the shape they were in after the acrylics came off. My fingernails were paper thin and had growth rings from the few times I had them filled in. As my nails grew in they would rip and tear due to the thinness.

Anytime I've ever had fake nails I would promise myself not to get them again. With all this in mind I still had to resort to something for my bodybuilding event. Every aspect of your stage presence is taken into account and although my nails would not make me or break me I still needed to do something about them. My nails are naturally brittle, wide and ugly. Since this was the case I decided to try the Kiss Nail Enhancements. I did not choose the do-it-yourself acrylic nails but the glue-on nails instead. Here is what I thought about the product.

Kiss Nail Enhancements

I purchased the Kiss nail kit at the local Walmart. There were several styles available in french manicures, patterns and designs but the most important thing I found were the sizes. I found nails in the "regular" sizes but Kiss also produces wide nails. My nails are naturally wide so the press on nails of the past were usually too narrow. I purchased the medium length wide nails in hopes they would fit and look nice.

Application

I fit each of my real nails to the fake nails and found that the wide size was a perfect fit for my fingernails. I lightly buffed my natural nails and added the Kiss glue to both my real and fake nails before applying them. I held the nail down and just as the package states it was dry in several seconds.

Lasting Effect

Since I'm not used to having long nails I did cut the medium length nails down some and lost a bit of the french manicure. I did not expect them to stay in place for very long because of my past experience with glue-on nails but this set lasted for nearly two full weeks. Even while doing dishes or bathing my kids I only had a single nail that became loose and I was able to glue that back into place.

During the two weeks the Kiss Nail Enhancements did not chip and there was minimal wear on the tips. Although I had french tips I painted them with a polish to give them a different look for the second week.

Cost

The cost of the Kiss Nail Enhancements in french manicure was $6. I purchased extra glue which came to $10 and worth the money.
