Gluten free eating is a blessing. Especially if you can't eat standard amercian food. That's my predicament and I'm not at all sorry even though at first I was. When you first realize that your plethora of symptoms are a result of eating all the perhaps "not so good" foods that you've been so blissfully eating, you suffer a certain sense of loss. Hey, giving up pizza is grieving in a real way! At least it was for me.

Fortunately, once you are able to find your way around the gluten free world, it's not long before you see a large variety of yummy options before you. In fact, most would think that there simply would be no gluten free dessert ideas to be had, however that's just a matter of becoming aware of the options. Here's just a few to start with.

Raw Apple Pie

If you think apple pie has to have a crust think again. This particular raw apple pie recipe was given to me at a live raw food class I took. I was surprised to find out that at holiday parties, this pie goes quicker that does the traditional type. The lemon in the recipe gives it a bit of a unique, pleasant flavor that keeps you coming back for more, and the dates and nuts cover any sweet tooth issues you may have. Click here for the recipe.

Date and Raisin Truffles

Here again, you have your sweet tooth covered from the dates in this recipe. Making them is a cinch and takes practically no time at all. That's because all you do is process your dates and nuts together, add some lemon and cinnamon, make your ball shape and your good to go! Find the procedure for this recipe here.

Walnut Raisin Fudge

Another cinch of a gluten free recipe is at your fingertips with this treat. Walnuts and raisins combine here to make a fudgy texture that satisfies as much as any fudge would. If your looking to make it even more decadent but still healthy, add some dates to the mix for even more sweetness. I enjoyed the realistic fudgy texture of this gluten free dessert and I'm not alone. I know countless gluten free folks that share my thoughts about this healthy but sweet treat. Look for the recipe here.

These options just touch on the immensity in choices there are to enjoy something sweet while keeping yourself healthy and gluten free. Give them a chance to prove themselves worthy of satisfying your sweet tooth.
