Rice Products
You'll find that rice products are a large part of the gluten free food realm, and you won't be without a lot of variety in that regard. As an employee of Outpost Natural Foods Cooperative here in my hometown, every aisle I walk down has rice products as options for those needing gluten free just about everything. From rice crackers, rice cookies, rice flour, to rice milk you won't have any problem getting something to eat from a rice source.
Nuts and Seeds
With a gluten free diet, it seems like nuts and seeds become have a bigger role in your daily intake of food. You may not be aware of the various ways to eat nuts and seeds, especially if you've spent a lot of time on the standard American diet. You can now find tasty nut milks in conventional grocery stores everywhere. Non-dairy milks derived from soy products, almond, and rice seem to be easy to find, however you can also make your own nut milk from virtually any favorite nut you have. One of my favorite milk from nuts is walnut milk sweetened with some agave.
Raw Food
I found that as a result of my gluten sensitivity, I became more involved with a raw food diet. Eating raw food offers some good variety as well. You can juice the raw items, or blend them into smoothies with a high power blender, or just eat them in their original form in a salad or on their own. Raw nuts are also great food sources for those that need to eat gluten free.
Dairy Products
Personally, I cannot eat gluten or dairy. However, there are gluten free folks that are able to take in some dairy products without any issues. If you're one of those, lucky you! It's been my experience that many people on gluten free diets have to watch out for dairy too. If you can enjoy dairy products without problems, by all means do so. They are a great source of protein and calcium.
Sharing my own gluten free experience by making you aware of the options you have is my pleasure. I not only have become healthier as a result of being gluten free, but I've lost weight and don't spend any time in pain from the digestive problems that gluten causes me.
