Glutino Gluten Free Breakfast Bars: Snack Item Comes in Four Flavors

Glutino is one of the leading makers of gluten free products. Glutino makes an effort to create not just gluten free substitutions for popular wheat0based foods, but also to make those gluten free products resemble the originals as much as possible. Glutino's product line includes gluten free crackers, breadsticks, cookies, frozen meals and breakfast cereal bars.

Glutino gluten free breakfast cereal bars come in four flavors: chocolate, blueberry, apple and cranberry. Each has a jam-like center with an oatmeal-like outer coating. Glutino gluten free breakfast bars are soft and chewy, although slightly smaller than their standard counterparts. The gluten free coating on Glutino cereal bars is actually made with a mixture of chick pea and corn flour. I know it sounds weird, but regular consumers of gluten free products know that strong flavors easily mask the taste of chick peas., although that probably explains the flavor selections available in these gluten free bars as opposed to the more typical flavors of strawberry and raspberry.

Low in fat and cholesterol free, Glutino gluten free breakfast bars are a good choice for a snack, but are too small to be a complete breakfast on the go. Each gluten free breakfast bar has only 130 calories, but packs 3 grams of fiber into that small space (so you might not want to gobble down two at once!).

A box of five Glutino gluten free breakfast bars runs abut $6, which is typical of gluten free products, but still slightly appalling. The apple and blueberry flavors of the gluten free breakfast bars from Glutino are probably the most appealing. Only people who particularly enjoy tart flavors should try the very intense cranberry gluten free bar. The chocolate bar, while acceptable, is not particularly exciting when compared with other chocolate flavored gluten free offerings.

Glutino gluten free bars are available at most Whole Foods Markets and are available through several mail order options. They have a long shelf life and unlike many other gluten free products do not need refrigeration, making them a good gluten free pantry item that's practical while traveling.

While I recommend Gluino gluten free breakfast bars, they ultimately aren't that exciting and are not a must-try gluten free item. However, if Glutino releases the gluten free bars in more flavors I will definitely try them, as I am looking for something milder and sweeter in this type of gluten free product.
