Gnarls Barkley is definitely one of the most innovative groups in the history of music. The combination of Cee-Lo Green and Danger Mouse has completely transformed music. With their debut album selling highly and spawning the huge crossover hit Crazy, Gnarls Barkley are now back with their sophomore album, The Odd Couple. Will The Odd Couple live up to their debut album, St. Elsewhere?

The first single off The Odd Couple is Run. The song definitely has a very vintage feel to it. The track is fairly catchy and very similar to music from the 1960's. The strongest element of the song is clearly the bridge. However the song just does not capture the magic of Crazy.

The second single off of the album is Who's Gonna Save My Soul which sounds like classic Cee-Lo Green. The song is almost in the vein of neo-soul rather than the 1960's pop sound of the album. The song still has some elements from that genre however it is the most commercially normal track on the album.

Going On is another very solid track. The song features an incredibly catchy beat and strong instrumentation over the sample. Cee-Lo shows that he is one of the most versatile and unique vocalists on the track.

No Time Soon is one of the rare ballads on the album at least it starts that way and then transforms into an electro-pop sounding epic with similar drum sounds to Kanye West's Stronger.

Whatever is definitely one of the more unique tracks on the album. The song almost has a hip hop beat over the whole 1960's vibe. The song finds Cee-Lo crooning in an almost child-like state.

Blind Mary like Whatever is very odd and awkward. The song just sounds as if it is from a different planet. The song features a very distinctive and unique beat along with very different vocals.

Neighbor starts off slow and melodic starts slow but than it builds into an epic sounding song. The song is fairly catchy and is definitely well produced and Cee-Lo shows off incredible vocal range on the track.

The Odd Couple is just what you would expect from Gnarls Barkley. The album has a distinctively retro feel with a ton of 1960s-era influence. If you enjoyed St. Elsewhere, you would love The Odd Couple. If not, the experience might not be entirely enjoyable for you. The Odd Couple gets 8 out of 10. If you are a fan of Gnarls Barkley, make sure you pick up The Odd Couple when it is available in stores on April 8.
