Go with the Flow Against the Status Quo!

Christina Arasmo Beymer
A rather short and unstructured poem about not being "sheeple". That's a group of people who don't think for themselves: one of the most destructive forces there is.

fly against the current
swim against the wind
start at the end
end at the begin
go in through the out door
go against the grain
go with the flow
against the status quo
break the chains

sail against the wind
find virtue through sin
hold tight to let go
go with the flow
take a hoe
to the status quo
there's seeds of
compassion to sow

Inspirational "Think for Yourself" messages from Buddha and Meher Baba:

Don't believe in anything simply because you heard it.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.
Do not believe in anything because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
But after observation and analysis, you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept and live up to it.
- Gautama Buddha

Give up all forms of parrotry. Start practicing whatever you truly feel to be true and justly to be just.
- Meher Baba

Pardon poetry and my prose, but here goes. I always wanted to write, but I m not formally educated as a writer. Nevertheless, I m not letting anything stop me. I do need a better proof reader than myself.  View profile

Meher Baba explained that real saints are ex-sinners. They don't condemn and they are not holier-than-thou. Most people find the virtue of virtue by finding out how lousy sin is, how superficial it is. And I also believe that most bad is only bad based on the intent behind it. Meher Baba gave the example of a woman with a baby to feed and no other means to feed her without stealing the food. Stealing in this instance not be bad, but it would be good. Murder of a person who is about to harm another is not violence if there is no malice behind it. It's all intent. It's also a long thing to discuss. Thanks for your comments: you rock!

Observation and analysis...sorely lacking out here in the pasture. Somehow, we decided that our senses were not enough and only phd studies, lab reports, and expert opinion could be trusted to provide the truth. "find virtue through sin" sounds a little like Rasputin. I like a little sin in my virtue, keeps it spicy.
