Go Green, Its Easy, Its Good, Its Patriotic, It's the Right Thing to Do

Why is going green the right thing to do? Going green will help to preserve the environment for future generations. Going green is your opportunity to leave the world a better place for your children and grand children. Going green is a responsibility that we all have it's a matter of survival for the world.

Going green is easy because there are many simple little things that can be done to improve your personal environment that collectively will have a big impact on the larger environment.

Here are some simple things you can do to go green, while saving money and living a safer healthier life.

1. Save energy and at the same time save money.

§ Set the thermostat a few degrees lower in the winter and a few degrees higher in the summer.

§ Use compact florescent light blubs (CFLs) instead of incandescent blubs.

§ Wash clothes in cold water whenever possible. Most of the energy used to wash clothes goes to heating the water.

§ Use a drying rack or clothesline whenever possible.

2. Save water and at the same time save money.

§ Shorter showers use less water and saves on hot water.

§ Install a low-flow showerhead to save even more.

§ Install a faucet aerator on each faucet to save as well.

§ Use bushes and plants in your garden that require little water.

3. Economize on gas, save money and reduce pollution.

§ Walk or ride a bike to work when possible. Not only does this save gas but also will improve your health.

§ Telecommute if possible.

§ Car pool.

4. Do not drink bottled water plastic bottles are not environmentally friendly.

§ Use a water filter to purify tap water, this will save money and reduce plastic waste.

§ Take a reusable water bottle, preferably aluminum rather than plastic, with you to work or when you travel.

5. Instead of buying borrow whenever possible.

§ Instead of buying books and movies borrow from the local library. This saves money, not to mention saving a few trees and other environmental matter.

§ Share power tools and other appliances with your neighbors. You may even find some help for your projects.

6. Dispose of electronics properly.

§ Keep your electronics as long as possible.

§ Donate or recycle when the time comes to cut down on mercury and other toxics that are a growing environmental problem.

7. Make your own cleaning supplies.

§ It is easy to make very effective non-toxic cleaning products whenever you need them. All you need are ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, lemon, and soap.

§ Making your own cleaning products saves money and packaging-not to mention your indoor air quality, which has emerged as one of the biggest health hazards we face today.

There are many more simple things that can be done to go green that will improve your personnel environment by making it safer and healthier. You are only limited by your imagination and ingenuity.
