Want to go green but not sure where to begin. Start with these few simple ideas and you will be on your way to a healthier life style. I have learned many healthy alternatives through the years and money saving tips as well that I think you will find useful and the best part is most of these non toxic items you probably have in your home.

White vinegar

White vinegar is very good at dissolving soap scum in your bath tub and works on hard water deposits.

It is also an antifungal agent that kills both bacteria and germs, great for wiping down kitchen counters and appliances.

Run about four cups through your drip coffee maker to clean as well as enhance the performance.

Makes a wonderful window cleaner

1/4-1/2 teaspoon liquid detergent
3 tablespoons vinegar
2 cups water
Spray bottle

Put all the ingredients into a spray bottle, shake it up and use as you would a commercial brand. The soap in this recipe is important. It cuts the wax residue from the commercial brands you might have used in the past.

Do not worry about your home smelling like vinegar the smell will quickly disappear once it has dried on a surface.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Is an excellent non-toxic bleach that acts as a stain remover. Pour a small amount on the stain, rub fabric lightly together and let rest until stain has vanished, launder as usual. Since it performs like bleach white fabrics are recommended. Great for aged and stained linens.

Club soda

Great as a stain remover for clothing and upholstery.

Lemon Juice

Excellent stain remover

Cuts through grease

Olive Oil

Makes wonderful furniture polish, a little goes a long way.

Baking soda

Excellent at eliminating odors throughout the home.

Place it in your refrigerator in a small container to absorb odors.

Sprinkle it on your floor and then vacuum it up to keep your carpet fresh.

Use as a gentle scouring powder.

These small changes can make a difference, now start enjoying your healthy abode!
